Extraordinarily comprehensive and useful
This book is a truly extraordinary guide to all, and I really do mean all, of photogenic scenes, buildings, places and spaces of London. I've lived in and photographed London for more than two decades, yet there is plenty new here even for me. I love the detailed tips ranging from where to get the best perspective to best times to shoot. The photos for illustration are all technically good and artistically interesting - and the author even includes exif data for each shot! If, like me, you enjoy exploring London with a camera, this book will spark new location and subject ideas, unlock the best perspectives, and quite possibly help you to improve your photography.

Excellent for idea where to photograph
I was lucky enough to have George give a lecture at my photograph club. He gives excellent ideas, where and when to take the best shots. The same with this book. Can’t recommend highly enough.

The most comprehensive photo guide book on London
Wow, this was a pleasant surprise. This could be the best location-oriented photoguide I have yet to come across. The book is positively encyclopaedic in its coverage, appearing to leave no stone unturned. Across its 100s of pages, many, many locations in central London are described in very helpful detail- we have maps, travel info, info about the best settings and time of day/season to shoot the different locations- reading this is like going on a photo walk in London with a knowledgeable photographer guide. It really feels as if this photographer is sharing all their amassed knowledge in order to help the reader get the best shots in London. The accompanying maps and photographs (the latter all by the author I think) are excellent. I have lived in London and visited many times, sometimes with photographic intent, but I certainly got some new ideas and inspiration from this book. I really do highly recommend it to anyone interested in photographing London. It also includes useful info on etiquette, the law and safety. My only issue with the book is that the paper is a little on the thin side, and the book is so thick and relatively heavy that I wouldn’t want to carry it around in my backpack all day - for me it is a great coffee table book for planning a photo trip to London. There is, then, still a place for some of the smaller photo guides about London , because they can slip in your pocket easily. Congratulations to the author though, on this labour of love - it is undoubtedly the best photoguide for London. Highly recommended!

A weighty tome
I am just on the way home from a work trip to London after recently buying this book ( on the strength of the North and South Wales editions). Thanks to it I was able to discover a new location I’d never visited so it’s started to earn its keep already. It’s laid out well, the information is still mostly current even after Covid, and the photos in it are excellent. With all the information in it, it is however a bit of a brick so I wouldn’t travel with it unless I really had to but that’s a minor problem.

Amazing photography
A book with hundreds of amazing beautiful photos, any one would make me proud, can immediately see the huge effort and time put into this book. The book is very well organised, excellent print quality and paper, never seen this amount of beautiful photos in one book, all exposure information is included including the month the photo was taken and occasionally the time of the day, I have been living and working in London for over 23 years, used to walk by some of these places on a daily basis but never noticed the beauty of them. All the information about the places is included, including what pictures to take, viewpoints, location gps, best time of the year, how to get there etcThe author is a great photographer, although his gear and set-up is very simple, probably I have more gear than him although never been able to take even one photo at this level. I hope he starts offering workshops once the lockdown is lifted

More of an encyclopedia than a guide book to London's photographic potential.
Nearly £30 for a softback book might seem like rather a lot of money but I think that it is actually very good value for money. The author has been working on this wonderful book for ten years and it really shows. I simply cannot fault the information he provides on the locations. If you are not inspired by this book to grab your camera and walk the streets of our capital in search of the perfect photograph, then there must be something seriously wrong with you. There are almost 600 pages of excellent photographs to stimulate your creative juices. I am a keen photographer of London scenes and even though I live some way from the capital I cannot wait to visit new and familiar locations. I know that I will get many enjoyable days out from this encyclopedia of London photography, just as it has already provided a few evenings of leafing through the pages.Heartily recommended, and I am waiting for Volume 2.

A truly comprehensive guide!
The detail and thought that has gone into this book is amazing, it is packed full of useful information, maps and very well illustrated.it really is a labour of love by the author. The only downside is its weight, its very much a reference and planning tool as , for me, its a bit too weighty to pack with my camera bag etc. That said its a fascinating guide that can inspire many trips to London!!

No photographer should go without these “photographing” books. Absolutely brilliant images and essential info on where the photos were taken, best time to get the shots, parking, accessibility and more. I’m now collecting the series!
