phenomenal read!
Chris Gordon’s story arc is quickly becoming one of my favorites! I am finding my love of reading again with this series.

Nice story line
The best part is that he’s so humble about his gifts of dealing with people and spirits. The romantic relationships are not my favorite and thankfully the author has kept it light and sparse.

My Favorite so far but......
So this is my favorite one for a number of reasons that I will go into. This one is about Chris hunting down the Loki Spawn gang pretty much the whole book revolves around this plot.Good1: Characters are good and maintain their original designs for some this is good for others this is bad. You do get a feel for all the characters why they are what they are and what they think is important to them.2: Dialogue is snappy and fun to read with a few telling moments. The characters start to feel comfortable with each other so you get more of a conversation rhythm which makes the immersion better.3: The world is expanded and you get to see a number of problems that cannot be solved by killing things. This idea is one of the best you have very powerful characters in this book it is nice to see them struggle with the ordinary things. In real life the ability to kill things is not so useful for college.4: Editing again is good I caught a few mistakes with words but these were minor and did not detract from the story.5: This one has a number of times were you get to see how Chris has impacted the vampire society and the regard he is held in. I liked this part as it has been missing in all the previous books we see Chris continually bleed for others but never really anything from them in return. In this book you see that some vampires actually admire him for him not just because he is with Tanya. In all the previous books you get that feeling that all her friends are only her friends he is just kind of with them. If he was not with Tanya would they still be friends? I don't think so.6: I really like how the bear was handled as it is his only real friend that sticks by him I thought it was handled very well.7: The time that was spent in New York was some of the best writing you had challenges that both made sense and drama all without the crutches of imposed limitations.Bad1: This is the start of an arc where Chris does not feel that he belongs with the vampires and after 3 books I have to agree. The whole scene with Arkaby just overshadows this that when it comes to him or the vampires Tanya always thinks of them first not how things will affect Chris. While all of his decisions are based on how it will affect her. In addition you have the friend angles which is still there, everyone trips over themselves to help Tanya but when he has issues you get Tanya only it just seems her friends are just that her friends. Concerned only with how he can help them or Tanya not how he is doing himself.2:At the end of this one you have again Tanya and Chris saying they will not leave each other well hate to say it but every book ends that way and then the next sure enough Tanya either leaves him or he is forced to leave by other vampires we will just have to wait and see which it is.Overview Again a great book well worth reading but after 3 books you still have an outsider with few true friends. In reality it has been clear he has no real place in vampire, were or human society and the people he meets in these societies continually treat him as a useful tool not as a friend. To highlight this look at the Brutal Asset file given to Senka, friends would not do that. Tanya's treatment of Arkady and Chris is another part of that as well. Ultimately I would recommend this book to others as it is a great series but having reread them the above issue has stuck out for me.

No logic, the story is all over the place, and Chris is angry all the time now
Now we're in book 3, and Chris/Christian/Gordon is pretty much always angry. The reason doesn't matter, he's just angry. The plot is even weaker than in books one and two because the reasons as to why the attacks happened in the first place is never explained. It shouldn't be a surprise to discover that this is where my time with paranormal/urban fantasy comes to an end. The plot is all over the place, and logic comes second to nearly everything else. There is also a great deal of time early on in the book spent recapping the story, which might have made sense in 2011 but doesn't anymore.I'm giving this a generous 4/5*

Enthralling! Conroe is ahead of the curve.
I am so glad that I gave this series a shot. As I have mentioned, I am kinda burned out on the Werewolf and Vampire thing. You have your pretty vampires ( Interview with a vampire, Twilight) you have your nasty ugly vampires ( Daywalkers) you have your classic recluse (Dracula) ...etc etc. And the same goes for werewolves: American werewolf in London, Twilight (again) ...etc. So you see my point, kinda done to death. I've read them all (books are much better than movies..MOST of the time. So it was with a sigh of "well, let's see how these 'Fanged' ones are gonna get jiggy with it.."It's been a long time since I was blind sided by a book with any kind of toothy supernatural as the title and content....Dang. This is really great stuff! : A pure BORN Queen Vampire, A not-so-human exorcist, super hybrid...something unknown; both beautiful and lethal. By the involvement of Angels, YES, God's own, are even behind this union. You see, Chris can see that vampires have a soul. Something that is rather touching...the vampires (always reviled as soulless monsters) have actually pinned for eons over that philosophical conundrum...Together they are a pair that smokes! Both are stronger and faster than even millennium old Elders. And it appears that they are destined to be the King and Queen of a massively, huge, world wide, sophisticated, (not to mention that their financial portfolio makes them one of the most powerful entities on the globe, together as one. After the turmoil of the first and second book, Brutal Asset, is another face paced scorching read that you just hate to put down. In this latest book Tanya and Chris must move against the newest threat by the Loki's Spawn gangs that are growing more powerful and annoying every day. La Beastia (The Beast) is the leader of the violent group of Lycanthropes, and they are abducting every manner of shaman and/or witch that they can find. They have a plan. Witches, Demons, Werewolves, a new weapon made of depleted uranium and silver sulfate......NOT GOOD.The former head of CIA Supernatural division has disappeared, and is seen in the vicinity of the Spawns territory. Sounds like trouble? it is...Not to mention that the Government is still determined to OWN Chris one way or the other, putting out a file called Brutal Asset to all Government upper echelons stating how dangerous and deadly Chris is, along with an extensive list of his past and present affiliations and activities with the vampire Coven, and his new mate, Queen Tatania. Attempts on their lives are more focused, and the new Queen is nearly taken out by the new silver sulphate. Not only is she temporarily blinded and her lungs damaged....she may not fully heal. Imperfection is considered damaged goods in the Coven hierarchy... Will Chris's unique blood (that saved her life in the first book) be able to heal her. Is it powerful to replace her eerily beautiful blue eyes that are completely destroyed!?This series has something for everyone! The romance is unprecedented. The action and conflict, war and the superhuman element is just fan- freaking- tastic!!!! Conroe, you are ahead of the curve, sir!.

Ok , I am hooked now.
I went into this series not knowing what to expect and it has been way beyond my expectations. I've read good and a few bad reviews so I was not real sure what to think so I am making my own mind up, and I am enjoying myself immensely. Isn't that what reading is about? Take a chance on this author. I know I am glad I did. Can't wait for the story to continue!

Why did I do it to myself?
Honestly, I don't know why I even tried to read this book. I guess I Kind of enjoyed book 1, tolerated book 2, but this? This is truly dreadful. The lead characters, male & female are ridiculous "Mary Sue" figures, the dialogue is poor, and the descriptions are weak. Until it comes to guns, then the author obviously gets very happy. The whole thing is just...dreadful.

Lost for words
It's so difficult to describe the rollercoaster of emotions going through such a fantastic warm story. Absolutely adoring these books.

Great read
The books in the series are incredibly enjoyable to read. John Conroe puts the right amount of humour, action and romance in.

A great series
This is one of my favourite series and I've read it many times. It's well worth giving a try, even if you aren't usually a fan of this genre. I'm unlimited so I am unverified.

Neo-Conservative sub-plot and childish writing ruins what could have been a good series
The prude way the author approaches sex scenes baffles me: killing someone and disemboweling them is okay but boobs aren't? There is a clear neo-con subplot; government hating, misogamy, lazy stereotypes, prudishness, religion. Shame as the first book was alright.
