I bought the plates, pasta bowls and side plates for my mother as she loves plain white crockery (and so do I, as it will always look great with any table setting or decor, so it's a risk free long-term purchase).The design is sharp and contemporary yet still timeless. The porcelain is a lovely quality (if you hold the plates up to a light you can almost read the printing on the back) and the price is very reasonable compared to even lesser brand white tableware.Every item is a nice size, not XL/oversized which can look clumsy and take up too much table space, and I would imagine big enough for most people.Very well packaged in strong boxes with endless amounts of bubble-wrap and paper (but I'm sure couriers will still manage to destroy a few...).Overall I couldn't be happier for the price, it's a high quality, elegant and versatile dinner service, and should last many years to come.

This is a lovely set. Simple, classic, white. It's a pure white, it's not a creamy white or a tinted white - just white, white, white. Don't take it to the Antarctic - if you put it down, you might loose it.The dinner plates are big, and flat. And don't fit in my cupboard, but I'm not really worried as they fit nicely in the plate warming drawer of the cooker.The side plates are obviously in the same style, but seem a little small - maybe it's just in comparison.The bowls are just a nice size, but I did also buy four pasta bowls, too, which complement the set handsomely. While I was at it, I added two serving bowls as well and the whole makes up an impressive set. I have to say that, although the serving bowls have a generous capacity, they do seem a bit shallow.The cups are a bit odd. You'd kind of expect them to have saucers but they don't. They look like cups but they actually hold about the same as your average mug - about 300ml (yes, I measured it).I haven't stuck any of them in the dishwasher or oven yet, but I can certainly confirm that they are microwave proof. They feel solid, but look elegant and go really well with my new WMF 44 pce Boston 18/10 stainless steel cutlery set.I bought the set direct from Amazon, rather than one of the sellers advertising on Amazon, and the delivery was next day - no problems.So - all set up for Christmas now, I hope! :-)Edit: 25/05/10. Well, have now added four Denby Noodle Bowls to the set. Might seem an extravagance, but the soup bowls and the pasta bowls were so nice, I use them for most meals - which means I don't have a bowl for pud! And these fit that gap just nicely, making the whole set a bit more versatile.

I've given 5 stars for durability & sturdiness .... Well I obviously have just purchased them but they are definitely 'quality' so I think if they are cared for correctly then no reason you wouldn't have them for years ... Lovely 'proper' white too ... I hate it when I order 'white' & the dishes or whatever arrive & are 'grey' or 'blue' white ... These are replacing two 'grey' white plates which annoy me every time I look at them!! They are 'large' though ... They don't fit in my usual kitchen cupboard where the rest of my tableware is kept ... I'll have to tuck them in one of the bigger ones ... They are beautiful & it's a big + they can go in the oven, microwave & dishwasher although I'll prob hand wash them as I do with some of my bits ... They also came really well packaged & wrapped in lots of bubble stuff ... 10/10

Lovely plates but very big, they don't fit in my cupboard. Good design and seem strong.

Lovely bowls with a simplicity to the shape & have the quality you expect from Denby, at a very reasonable price. They were well packaged & arrived with no breakages. Very pleased with these bowls, definitely recommended.

Easily holds two Weetabix. High sides mean even my sometimes shaky hands haven't spilled any milk. Appear quality made and easy to clean.

4 of 16 pieces arrived broke.

Always liked Denby

Used less than a week and one bowl already has a big chip in the rim! Can you replace/purchase just one?
