Just add....
Just be prepared, the instructions suggest adding ingredients that aren't included in the kit (see below). The kit does contain 6 blocks of glycerine soap (3 clear, 3 white - enough to fill all the molds once), 3 smaller color blocks (tinted glycerine soap), a variety of molds and two spoons for stirring and measuring. You will need a glass Pyrex measuring cup for melting the soap in the microwave. The instruction booklet includes some nice little side notes that explain the science behind soap making, how soaps work, and why making your own all natural soaps is beneficial. Instructions are easy to follow - just melt the soap in 10 second intervals, stir and pour into the molds. Since I wanted to keep things simple I didn't use any of the extra ingredients except food coloring, my daughters and I made several soaps by melting the clear soap and cutting the colored soap into tiny cubes, then dropping them into the melted soap once it was poured into the mold. This resulted in some very pretty soaps! For the others we used the white soap blocks tinted with food coloring (someone might actually turn green from one of our soaps - too much coloring!) I did the melting and pouring while they assembled the gift boxes that come with the kit. Clean up was easy - just wash everything with hot water to melt/dissolve the soap. The nice thing is that the molds can be used over and over again and soap making supplies can be easily purchased at most craft stores. If you want to follow all of the custom recipes you will need: Rose petals, mint, lavender, citrus peel, rosemary, vanilla extract, chamomile tea, aloe vera gel, jojoba oil, olive oil, almond oil, whole oats, honey, turmeric, coconut oil, cocoa butter, vitamin E oil, powdered milk, tea leaves, sugar, whole milk, epsom salts, sea salt, dried orange zest, ground almonds/walnuts, powdered cinnamon, dried loofah sponge pieces, cocoa powder, ground espresso, cosmetic grade glitter.

I’d buy it again
I think this is a great starter set if you are new to soap making like we are. It comes with everything you need pretty much but the fragrances and there’s always something you could find at home, like vanilla, coconut oil, cocoa butter, etcMy 8 year old daughter and I worked on this together and she loved it, the soaps turned out pretty and lather very well too plus it was not messy. One thing that helped us is to melt the dye together with the soap base and have the add ins ready to mix as soon as the soap base was melted since it hardens pretty quickly. The only thing I would change about the kit is the material of the molds. They were a little bit hard though not impossible to remove without breaking them.

Could not be happier!
Wow, this is an amazing kit! I bought this for my 13 year old daughter! She has autism so it’s hard to find things that she wants to be creative with. One thing she loves is bubble baths and any girly bath stuff so I bought this on Prime Day. It exceeded my expectations! And the BEST NEWS is my sweet girl is SO excited about making these soaps! The instruction book is so concise that I think I’ll even be able to master it! She’s already given me a list of friends and family she wants to make soap for! And she asked if we could go to the store so she could get her own soap ingredients! Stem products are AMAZING! And y’all! I am thrilled my girl is excited about this! How fun! Lots of soap making this weekend I foresee!

Really fun activity and requires an adult to help
We have purchased several of these kits, and we keep reusing the molds. Really fun activity and requires an adult to help. Mom cut the soap bars with a knife before melting pieces in individual coffee cups in the microwave (handles are essential since the soap gets very hot). Kids then quickly added vanilla or lavender or honey plus food coloring to the melted soap before pouring into the molds. You have to act quickly to make sure the soap doesn't harden before pouring. Rather than stirring, we swirled the scents and food coloring into the melted soap before pouring. We then froze the soap in the molds by placing in the freezer to make them easy to remove later. We packed the results in disposable plastic containers for the kids to take home as favors from the party. It was a lot of fun and took up about an hour of the party time.

Awesome project for 6 year olds and also surprisingly educational
This was a good buy. My twin 6 year olds loved planning out their soap recipes and scents and also tried out the recipes that came with the set. I like that the directions gave info on where to get more soap supplies once all the items in the box are used up. We made soap for a good three hours straight because they thought it was so cool! They needed help with using the microwave but could do all the other things needed. We gave some soaps away as party favors in pretty boxes and everyone really liked them. The directions also give educational info on why soap works so well as a cleaning product and goes in to the science. Pretty cool.

I thought this was pretty nice. It comes with a decent amount of molds and two kinds of glycerine soap, along with some colored soaps to color your bars. You shave off the colors you want into the main soap to tint it different colors. I thought the instruction manual was full of great ideas and very informative. The boxes that came with it were really nice too. I only wish this was not marketed in an only 'girly' way. Hint: boys like this stuff too.

Neat idea but requires a lot of parental oversight
This was very cute and we did make a few soaps. I like because it actually includes most of the ingredients you'll need. I got for my 8 year old and had hoped she could do on her own but no way...this does involve some heavy parental involvement for children younger than I would think 11 or 12. Lots of heating up and you have to pour quickly or it cools too fast...just requires more dexterity than your average 8 year old possesses.

Need additional ingredients
In order to make nice soaps you will need to get other ingredients such as essential oils. I ended up returning it as I didn't have anything handy to make a good soap variety
