A "must read" for anyone interested in the multiple identities in the war with ISIS
An absorbing and exciting "read". Detailed information about a people making headlines in the news in the war with ISIS. Fascinating discovery about ancient religious beliefs that have influenced not only the three great monotheist religions that originated in today's Middle East but also major and minor religious beliefs in the Indo/Eurasian region. A very readable style of writing much appreciated by this ignorant layperson.

The Kurds: A Concise Handbook
Although 8 years old, this still remains the best book I have ever read about the Kurds. We Armenians know very little, and that also so biased, when it comes to our neighbors the Kurds. I think this book should be made a mandatory reading in all the Armenian schools. The book is like an encyclopedia and the author is successful in not taking any political side. He is also respectful to the Armenians and their Genocide in which as Izady writes, the Kurdish tribal leaders took part with the Turks. His treatment of the Kurdish culture, art and history is as fascinating as his coverage of politics, religion, langauge and demography. It is an excellent resource. It is a pitty that this book is not more widely known or available in the Armenian language. I wished the publishers of the book would consider translating and publishing this into other languages too and not just English.

The best!
This book is so far the best book about the Kurdish history that I have come across. It is a very detailed and superbly written book. However, the author would benefit the world even moreif he produced a 'bigger and heavier' updated version.

Kurdistan
One thing I found out about current events is that they all stem from events of past times. Book is a great resource for understanding why there are so many Kurdish settlements in so many different current nation states. Does anyone reading this review know why are there so many female Kurdish fighting units? This book contains a great deal of information on Kurdish culture.

Impressive clever book
Ein Buch für Mutige! Das Buch ist sehr ins Details über Kurden und deren Herkunft eingegangen. Die Verbindung zu der Welt und warum dieses friedvolle Volk bis heute kein Land hat, versteht man, wenn man dieses liest.
