She's a very lovely doll with really nice details and her overall quality is really great. I'm very pleased with her. It's also wonderful to have dolls of inspiring women.

Awesome
This just arrived and although I am waiting for my grandaughter to unbox her- I can say Iam very impressed by this doll. She has dainty, realistic features. The hair is dark and just like the 80's poodle perm. I would not call her a toy but more of a collectors item, but I can see she would be just as pretty dressed in a change of outfits. although the blue jumpsuit she wears is very well made and detailed- I would fully recommend her and will definitely buy more from the Inspiring Women series.

Nice barbie Collectors Doll. Not really a toy
Based on a real-life person, Sally Ride became the first American woman to fly in space back in 1983.In this set, you get the Sally Ride Barbie Doll with a really cute helmet. She is wearing headphones with a mouth piece had has really bushy curly hair. If fact it’ a real struggle to try and fit the helmet over her thick curly hair. The Barbie Doll is wearing detailed brown boots and a light blue jump suit with real pockets on the trousers by the knees. The jump suit has some cool Nasa badges and patches with an American flag on the arm. It also has a gold fake zip which is actually Velcro to remove and put on the jump suit.Moving parts on the doll are the head, shoulders, elbows, wrist, hips and knees. The feet don’t move. The dill comes with a clear plastic stand to sit the Sally Ride doll on for display.Inside the set is a Certificate of authenticity and some information about Sally Ride. The packaging has a picture of a rocket on the cardboard at the back.More a collector’s piece than a play toy I would say. Would have been cool if they had included the Space Shuttle Challenger

A bit underwhelming and very expensive!
There's nothing particularly bad about this doll, other than it is just that a doll with no special features other than it comes with a certificate of authenticity (hmmm, why?), and it is based upon Sally Ride (US astronaut), and headlined "Inspiring Women".The doll is well made, and comes with a stand, but I can't help thinking that because it's a Barbie (and there are lots of folk who collect them), they are justified at giving it an eye-wateringly expensive price tag! However, I suspect this is an unrealistically inflated launch price, which is likely to drop.In light of the price, and the interest in Barbie dolls, I suspect this won't be purchased as a toy as such, but for a collector's addition in a display cabinet - which is really rather a shame if that is the case!A good example of Barbie, but nothing very special. For anyone that is a collector, and who wants to display it, they will likely be a bit annoyed that the packaging is not brilliant, and nigh on impossible to open without tearing at least part of the cardboard. Packaging condition is very important for collectors!

A great role model for your daughter
A Barbie doll by any other name but this one is the same quality you would expect from any other full price Barbie, but this is dually aimed at little girls that parents want to influence with remarkable and successful women and collectors. Sally Ride was one of the great female astronauts of the Space Shuttle programme and this doll of her is mounted in a non-typical Barbie box and with a stand so that she can be displayed.Dressed in her astronaut blues with realistic badges (NASA, US flag and Challenger shuttle), she wears a communications headset with microphone, has great hair and comes with a space helmet. Her outfit is smart and professional and could pass for the real thing.Clearly to sew the seed in your daughter that she could be an astronaut too, this is a Barbie doll that represents a real role model for todays children and puts your daughter firmly able to play astronauts with her young male friends.A great idea - well done to Mattel, but a trifle expensive compared to traditional Barbie models, but then again this is a very special woman represented here.Thoroughly recommended!
