Spoiler-Free Review
Old Boy, Volume 8 concludes the series. Kakinuma has given Goto a week to figure out what caused the rift between the two of them, and at the end of the volume, the week is over. Goto has an explanation, but what is it, and will it convince Kakinuma not to kill him? The interesting cast of supporting characters are out of the picture now, and it's only the two of them left.I wasn't that thrilled with this volume, but it's still a worthy end to a great series. The artwork has been solid throughout, and this volume is no different. ****

Must own for all fans of the movie
For those of you guys who are a huge fan of the movie "Oldboy", you should definitely check this out. It's similar as far as concept goes, but there are many things that are different from the movie. After all, the movie was just an ADAPTATION of the manga series, so it's not meant to follow the series volume by volume, or page by page. It IS worth owning, or just reading because the story in the manga series is very different as far as many minor details go.Just check it out if you loved the movie, you won't regret it.

Relaxed, but engrossing
This story continues at a very relaxed pace, yet it doesnât feel dragged out or protracted. It definitely held me for the duration.

The Final Conclusion To An Otherwise Twisted Thrill Ride
If you're in the mood to see a more fleshed out climax to the whole print version of the Park Chan Wook movie, this final chapter manga will seriously do for both fanboys and high brow cineastes everywhere!

The climax to the series has not met very good comments. However, this seems to be due to a severe misunderstanding about the intent of the ending. The "war" is within himself. Not all the questions have been answered and so he has nightmares, fearing for the life of the one that he loves most dearly. A war does not have to be something with others but something with yourself. We've all experienced them in some way, some minor, some major but how you fight is what is important. So do not suffer from short sightedness and realise that such a series s actually an exaggerated metaphor for life. A very well drawn and written one. Fantastic! (note: the epilogue is all a dream of Goto's.)

Oldboy Manga is fantastic...until this one.
So here it is... the end of the Oldboy Manga (or is it?!).I saw the film before I read the Manga, and to be honest I wish I hadn't. The film of Oldboy is fantastic, superbly acted out and the ending is strong, breaking and unexpected... This is where the Manga fails to impress. It's a great, healthy build-up all the way through and you have some beautiful art work in this series that's definately worth the time to explore through, however the ending falls on it's bum, to be honest. I couldn't help feeling disappointed.
