Amazing Performance with no Cellular Network
My son and I tree stand hunt in remote Missouri where there is no cell service. Previously the only way to communicate was with noisy walkie talkies. This is unacceptable as it scares the game away. We were about a mile apart in dense woods while using the Power Talkies. We were able to text each other using smart phones (iPhone 7/10) on vibrate mode. The only time the devices failed was when my son put his Talkie device in his full back pack and somehow the power switch was pushed, turning the device off. When a message is received your iPhone vibrates just like it should when you are connected to cell towers. You will not be disappointed unless you are really pushing the distance between the devices. I would buy again!

PowerTalkie Review
Pros: External antenna, ok battery size/life, has a talk mode, text mode, nice case for 2 units, waterproof, SOS mode.Cons: Group mode has a big bug and unable to receive group messages; Group mode does not work.Voice mode hangs up when receiving even though transmit party has stopped transmitting, leaving no way to move forward without resetting unit. This is almost a product if bugs are fixed. No feedback from manufacturer via emails to questions.I will do complete tests/review on Youtube when i’m done testing completely.K8UR Youtube Channel.Mitch at K8UR. Connects easily and communicates without cell towers
Connects easily to both iPhone and Android, app seems very stable, relays messages, emoji, and location between devices without cell signal or wifi. Despite the listing and some text on the website these devices do not have mesh functionally. The emoji work well but several are repeats and most unicode emoji are left out, so no eggplants or peaches for you. Naming of contacts and things like photos or contact details do not see to be in any shared directory so there isn't much point to adding details as nobody is going to see it, so contacts and group chats are described with just a number. Also the manual shows a feature to find nearby users but that isn't in the app. Will continue to test range but results so far are inconsistent.

Great concept, didn’t work
One talkie connected fine but the 2nd talkie would not connect to a phone via Bluetooth for multiple attempts. My husband & I were very excited to have these for deer hunting especially since I spied a cougar when leaving my tree stand a few weeks ago & unable to reach him by walkie talkie/phone. Great concept, affordable, it just didn’t work, and there are no more available to order.

No app available for android
Does not support android. Couldn’t find app on google play store as claimed- & provided QR code didn’t work. Apple App Store did work however I find the app to be not very user friendly

Make sure you're not meaning to buy walkie talkies
These aren't walkie talkies. I wanted walkie talkies and should have paid more attention. Not sure what these things do, download an app and its pretty lame. IDK if i should regift these to someone or just toss the in the trash...

Device not usable - No Android App and iPhone cant connect through BT
Tried setting up iPhone 11 and Galaxy with these devices.#1 Apple does find the app - but it's not rated well. When I installed it - the very first screen was to register - so I went to register and it doesn't let you see what you are typing. So as your typing your email/password - it's maybe white font on white background? thats crazy, but... I continued anyway. Got the app registered/setup. Followed instructions to the T in manual and I work in tech, so I'm fairly technically literate - Bluetooth doesn't find the device at all. My phone is loaded with BT devices - I use it quite a bit with no issues, so it's the walkie talkie.#2 my partner has Android/Galaxy - the QR code provided with the walkie talkie fails. When searching manually in apps - Google doesn't have the app. It has lots of other walkie talkie apps but not this one. Not sure if they booted the app off or???? but it's not available for Android anymore, therefor Android does not support this device. This could change at some point, but this is 3/31/2020.Bummer - I was really looking forward to using these, as I am an avid hiker in remote areas and this was an excellent concept.

Interesting
I’m conflicted with this purchase. Carrying two devices instead of one is counter intuitive and if all you want to do is communicate then it’s not going to beat two-way radios. Yes you can clip PowerTalkies onto a backpack or onto your bike so it’s not like they’re impossible to bring with you. They’re just more inconvenient than carrying and using two-way radios. However if these do mesh networking then they solve the repeater problem (GMRS & FRS repeaters are not permitted within Canada) but I’m unsure if I want to pay another $130 to test their mesh networking.Bluetooth range is good enough to toss one in a house/cabin/campsite and forget it’s there which is its convenience factor and it’d be a rockin’ little device if two or three phones could simultaneously pair to it.Text messaging over walkie-talkies is a service you want and unless you want to go DMR then these guys do the trick. That app would be nicer if you had a read receipt like BB’s messenger did.Large text messages push an analogue power meter just right of 1W and voice transmissions push an analogue power meter right around 2W so that’s about the most you can hope for in Canada. Text and voice fall off at about the same distances which are the same distances you observe in a pair of 2W Cobra GMRS handhelds (~1-2km through trees, ~5-7km line of site with a few trees in the way). Note., voice messages & voice chat remain clear where you’d expect static or squelch control to present themselves. Does this hint PowerTalkies always broadcast digitally, are they DMR on 462MHz or simply the nature of having wider bandwidth? If you’re swearing at the cost of Gotenna then that same cost will land you four PowerTalkies which, imho, is the minimum number you want.Yes, the manual sucks but the device does not. Ask me again after August.Late Edit: Unless I return to edit or someone comes alone to correct me then these will not mesh network. ie., if 1 and 3 are out of each others range then 2, sitting in between, will not connect them. The only arguable use for these for a little extra privacy (not analogue).Late Late Edit: (Nov, 2020). Well I tossed them up high on my side by sides and my co-pilot likes texting. I'm a mid engine so it's not to have to stop and ask "would you repeat that again?"

Great seller.
Seems like a good quality product. I need to return though. Seller was prompt to handle return. No issues.
