Keep Her Safe: A Novel

Utterly exceptional book filled with suspense and heartache. A must read!
Keep Her Safe could very well be K.A. Tucker's best work to date. And believe me, I've read all of her books and I have loved all of her books. But this one has me spellbound in a way that renders me speechless. This is a story that is so much more than what appears on the surface. A story that is multi-layered and complicated and completely engrossing to the point where I was both anxious and impatient to turn the page. I don't often feel that way and as I sit here, only minutes after reading the very last words, I can't help but want to go back and start all over again. It's that brilliant. The web of mystery that surrounds the death of Officer Abraham Wilkes back in 2003 is about to turn his former partner's son's life upside down in 2017. Noah Marshall never could have imagined that a note from his late mother could put him on the most unusual and surprising journey of his young life. But wanting to right so many wrongs that he begins to uncover one by one is one heck of a mission. And with Abe's daughter Gracie by his side, I was as gobsmacked as they were as the layers get peeled away and the truth desperately finds a way to be free.I am in awe of K.A. Tucker. The meticulous way she writes is mesmerizing. I couldn't look away from my Kindle if I tried. As everything unfolds and Noah and Gracie stumble and fall on their quest for the truth, I was once again lost in the author's words. The words that make my heart beat faster as they uncover multiple wrong-doings they can't believe truly happened. The words that make my heart sing because despite all they have endured, Noah and Gracie manage to see the other as not only as someone to lean on but as someone to love. Yes there is some happiness to find amidst the heartache. Sometimes just in the form of a hand to hold and sometimes in the form of a one-eyed ratty stray dog named Cyclops. There is so much tenderness despite all the sadness and shock that Noah and Gracie continue to experience. And underneath it all is the hope that good will trump evil and those who were innocent all along will finally get their due.Keep Her Safe is a book to savor. There are no words written that aren't necessary. Each one is part of a masterfully crafted story that will undoubtedly leave you amazed. I know I am.K.A. Tucker has outdone herself and Keep Her Safe will definitely be at the top of my list of favorite reads for 2018. It is outstanding and a book not to be missed.

Thrilling and unputdownable
Keep Her Safe by KA Tucker4.5 stars!!!“Who were you, really, Jackie Marshall?”KA Tucker never fails to astound me and Keep Her Safe was a fantastic reminder of just how well this author can write Romantic Suspense. While in Keep Her Safe the suspense was the predominant story line the little bit of romance that is interspersed is a perfect balance to the overall story. This book had me on the edge of my seat from the very beginning, no filler chapters whatsoever, just perfect story building pulling the reader in from the very start. Crime Thrillers are my go to books when I need a break from romance and this was the perfect combination of both.“He predicted that Noah might be lying in bed next to me one day, deciding whom to protect. Whom to disappoint. Whom to betray.”As ever, the writing was flawless, captivating and utterly enthralling as this book starts with the death of the chief of police and a tangled web of lies, deceit, guilt and corruption is slowly unravelled by the chief of police’s son, Noah.Noah was a fantastic character and his morals and scruples were firmly in place no matter what he unearthed. Wanting to get to the bottom of what made his mum do what she did, nothing could have prepared him for what he would find. Noah’s loyalties are tested to the limit and when his discoveries bring him into the path of a childhood friend old memories are brought to the surface.“We all know who Jackie chose… She chose wrong. But will Noah make the same mistake?”Gracie was an amazing character, a woman that had carried the weight of the world on her shoulders, a little girl that was forced to grow up way before her time and a woman that was now incredibly jaded. Her outlook on life was fantastic, she was incredibly strong and stubborn but that only made me love her all the more. With some jaw dropping twists and turns that I never saw coming I was engrossed in this book from first to last word. KA Tucker was the master at suspense and red-herrings in this book and while some I saw coming, there were a lot I didn’t. What a fantastic read.

KA’s best yet
I try not to read blurbs. I like to go into things not knowing anything about the book. I read them based on recommendations from friends or there’s a list of authors that anything published by them I pick up.KA Tucker is one of those authors. I love her writing and Keep Her Safe did not disappoint. It’s actually my favourite of hers. It has a little of everything to keep you on your toes. I don’t know how she’ll ever top this one. Can’t wait for the next book!

super suspense!
Este livro é um pouco diferente do restante dos livros da autora mas muito bom como ela conduz a história de Grace e Noah! Uma trama policial, cheia de reviravoltas e personagens muito cativantes!

I Absolutely LOVED it!!
Noah Marshall’s mother, Jackie, is the police chief in Austin, Texas. Highly decorated and respected, it comes as a shock to Noah when he discovers the skeletons she has been hiding, skeletons that resulted in crushing an innocent family. When the guilt of her actions becomes too much for her to live with, Noah sets out to complete his mother’s last wish, to track down the daughter of the man she failed.Gracie Richards has spent the past nineteen years living in a trailer park with her mother since her corrupt cop father was killed in a drug deal gone wrong. Struggling to take care of her heart broken and drug addicted mother, the last thing Gracie expects is to have a strange man with ties to her past show up on her doorstep.Together Noah and Gracie begin to uncover the truth around her father’s death and the full extent of corruption within the Austin Police Department.‘Keep Her Safe’ is written in first person point of view and alternates by chapter between Noah, and Gracie in the present, and Abe and Jackie in the past. This technique allows the reader to follow along with Noah and Gracie as they discover the truth about their parents as well as who is truly responsible for Abe Wilkes death, while also understanding Abe and Jackie’s motivations and how things ended up going so wrong.K.A Tucker has written such authentic characters and I absolutely loved the dynamic between Noah and Gracie, as well as the fact that Noah was not just another tough guy romantic interest, but a genuine and well written character who is sometimes unsure of himself – something many male characters lack in romance novels and was a refreshing change to read.‘Keep Her Safe’ also deals with themes of sexism and racism, with both Jackie and Abe having to contend with other people’s bigotry in order to do their jobs.It has been a while since I have read a believable crime novel that has still maintained suspense without become far fetched with the use of Dues Ex Machina (a person or thing that appears suddenly and unexpectedly to provide a solution to a seemingly impossible to solve problem), bad writing, or simple plots that take away from otherwise enjoyable novels. ‘Keep Her Safe’ was such a refreshing change, and I loved not being able to pick what was coming while connecting with well-written characters.K.A Tucker has written a marvellous novel, creating an intricate and riveting page turning plot with unexpected twists and shocking turns. ‘Keep Her Safe’ is a thrilling and complex slow burn romantic suspense novel by K.A Tucker that will keep you guessing right to the very end.
