As of May 2020, most updated unit? PX6 and Android 9
1st Review (Will update again after months of use)Why I chose this unit:If you're a 2015+ WRX/STi owner who has wanted better sound, you have probably seen John Nguyen's videos on YouTube with all the Android headunits. The most recent units in WRX/STi's he's reviewed are the iDoing ones, but before I decided on Dasaita, I also compared to Joying and Seicane, the other big names for these types of units. I chose Dasaita over the other brands since I wanted what I perceived as the newest and fastest processor and most updated Android which is 9 atm for all these units, but if you don't want to spend 600, just spend 300 for the iDoing that has Android 9 and the PX5 chip unless there's a more updated one.I don't particularly like working on cars, but I ended up going for this because I found a lot of YouTube videos that show how to take out the old unit, which is 2 bolts on the sides and 2 on the top, removing just 1 panel for each bolt basically. The wiring is also sort of straightforward to plug in, as they give you 2 sets depending on which year of WRX/STi you have, with each cable labeled in both English and Chinese, but you pretty much just know where to plug each one in. It took me about 2 hours to figure everything out from removing old unit to moving everything over to the new one and plugging everything in, but if I were to do it again on a new one, it would probably take 45 minutes, and it took at least a few more hours of playing around to get the settings and everything I wanted right on it as well.Technical Review:Compared to the newest Android phones (like my Pixel 3 XL), it's not as fast which is expected, but it's fast enough. If you enable Auto Sleep it boots a lot faster, but without it on it takes maybe 5-10 seconds to start.I have a 2016 WRX Premium, and the stock sound wasn't even as good as my phone's speakers. I upgraded to the factory OEM Kicker speakers, and an Alpine Powerpack Amp, and imo it went from OEM 2/10, to Kickers/Amp 6/10 which was bearable, but now with this unit the sound is definitely 12/10. Even at level 1 volume it has a lot of power in the music. Not all Android apps work on this for some reason, because of the way the screen is, or the apps themselves, but either way they are not fully optimized for this platform, so just fyi.I just use the Radio app, A2DP for Bluetooth Audio, Musicolet which I think is the nicest music app for music you want to play off the HDD or USB, Android Auto, and Offline Google Maps. I just update on Wifi when I park in my driveway, as I can't really get the hotspot tethering to work.Overall, electronically, this is very high quality. The screen is as sharp as any phone screen (when I tried YouTube) and it just feels premium. Backup Cam was fine when I plugged it in, and since the screen is bigger than stock it's blurrier but it still works fine. The packaging it came in was as nice as some name brands like Sony or other companies. My brother bought the Alpine ILX-F259 for his Tundra before I bought this, and I would say the quality is almost comparable in terms of how they unit feels and looks. The Con:There is a gap on the top and side of the vents, and also the bezel surrounding the screen. They told me to cut the inside clips to try to make it fit which I tried with no success. I was able to get 100 back to make up for this, and they will send a replacement frame since you can unscrew the screen to put into another frame, so we'll see later if this fixes the gaps.TLDR:$600 for this? Depends on you, but knowing what I know now I would go for the iDoing one with the highest specs for half the price. I'm sticking to it since I don't want the hassle of just returning then buying another one to have more issues to resolve. Will update after more months of use, hope this helps.

A much needed upgrade for my 2016 Subaru Wrx Limited. *****
ProsEXCEPTIONAL CUSTOMER SERVICE9-inch screenVery easy installation plug and play. Took about 40 mins to install.Fits flush, no gaps, looks, and fits as it came from the factory.Steering wheel controls work perfectly and very responsive.Microphone for calls and commands work perfectly. The backup camera works perfectly and can still utilize the grid lines. The sound is awesome, Huge upgrade from the factory radio which is rubbish and even better than my Sony XAV-AX5000 that I had installed in my WRX previously. You can use the backup camera while driving, this is perfect to see tailgaters and if you use a screen recorder app you basically have proof in case of a rear-end collision.Very customizable. I use Nova Launcher and was able to install all my 3rd party apps.Works as a stand-alone unit. I use my hotspot and do not need to use charging cables.Starts up immediatelyThe touch screen is very responsive.Has no drive lock-out. This is perfect. My little girl can watch amazon prime from the back seat.Wireless Android Auto works, auto connects.ConsNone.

Update: spend time and money elsewhere
Just installed my new stereo! as most WRX owners know... the sound system is CHEEKS because of how low the output is of the stereo. This upgrade was much needed. Better EQ(that actually works), better resolution screen, much more powerful output, wireless Apple CarPlay and android auto... This little investment is well worth the satisfaction of having a way more powerful sound system in your subie.CONS.Instructions are weirdSome pieces dont fit too well (the scroll/enter button for your upper dash screen. You are gonna spend a lot of time figuring out how to get those damn A/C vents off the trim lol.PROSImproves sound system by a million timesWay better EQWireless Apple carplay+Android autoSteering wheel controls still workBackup camera still worksBigger screenHigher resolution screenBuilt-in appsUPDATE!Don’t buy this... you’ll spend more time trying to connect your phone, turning your car on and off again because there’s no reboot function, and messing around with thing, more than you’ll actually be able to use this thing. It will crash or not connect for about 20-30 mins before it actually decides to start working. DON’T waste your time and money on this thing. Will be returning!!

This is a ok system
After taking 3 hours to install the system I tuned it on to find out that the wireless Apple car won’t connect I get the screen you see in the photos. I tried everything but the only way it’s working is by wired mode and I spend the extra 50$ to get wireless. Very upsetting for that but other then that the sound and system is good for the wrx

Recommend something else
For a ‘18 WRX with HK, it’s MOSTLY PnP. Did require splicing to get the front speakers to work. Unfortunately, after only a few days, the unit decided it will only turn on when it wants. Half of the day when I hop in my car now, it doesn’t turn on, but the Bluetooth works with no sound though (weird) while the screen is black. Unplugging and plugging back in seems to just be a temporary solution. And changing out the onboard fuse doesn’t work either. I’m in the process of returning this.
