This book is essential to lovers of Italian cuisine those who love to cook Italian food. What I enjoyed most was the way that it uncovered or recreated long lost recipes of Sicily, region by region, town-by-town. Cooks are going to adore this book. These recipes are going to be lost forever. Buy them while you can. They are heirlooms

Not so sure about these recipes and the photos are outdated but that's part of the charm. Makes a great gift. I got one for my friend who had spent 10 days in Sicily and she loved it. Personally I see it more as a coffee table book or a good resource for ideas to build on for experienced cooks. Could be more comprehensive as Sicily has some insanely good cuisine.

Great photos with authentic recipes. I haven’t come across a good Sicilian cookbook in a long time.

Very comprehensive. Well written recipes with clear instructions. And NO FLUFF! What a nice change of pace for a contemporary cookbook.

There's nothing better than learning about a part of your heritage through cooking.

Gave these out as gifts to all of out family, and they all loved it. Amazing pictures and scene from all over sicily!

Lots of info

This book is a fascinating insight into the micro-regional cuisine of Sicily. It outlines the dishes by region which gives them a sense of place and provides some interesting recipes that aren't what we as Americans think of as typically Sicilian, like Tuna with Potatoes and Honey Sauce. The photography doesn't disappoint either. Another great Phaidon book.

I bought this because of a particular recipe reviewed in a magazine. I have identified at least ten more I want to try. The one I have tried so far was superb.

Lovely book with good information about the different areas of the island. Does not have many recipes if this is what you are expecting, it is more of a travel book with some good recipes in it.

Having just visited Sicily I wanted a book on Sicilian cooking and bought this one hoping it would be what I wanted. It is and more as it is beautifully illustrated with interesting facts and information on Sicily.
