Cool graphic novel
This graphic novel tells the story of female Russian snipers fighting the Nazis on the Western Front. The story is interesting and the illustrations are top notch. My only complaint is that it left me wanting to know more about the characters at the end of the novel.

Fairly historically accurate bleak dramatic tail of female Soviet Snipers in 1942
Honestly I was shocked how well Garth researched this book and made a serious attempt to create a historically accurate depiction of the conditions , equipment, weapons on the Soviet side in the winter of 1942 during the battle of leningrad . The only real technical goof was the German Tiger I tanks which in the real war did not appear in Russia until 1943 but other than that the winter uniforms, gear and weapons are spot on for both the Russians and Germans. The tale of this Woman's Sniper Squad was gritty, grim, unromantic and tragic which for most part realistic depiction of life a Russian female snipers during WWII . Also Accurate was the daily menace that all Russian soldiers and citizens faced from the NKVD political officers like Lt . Riva that was assigned to Sara's company. Even during the height of WWII Soviet Russian defeats in 1942 Stalin kept his private NKVD terror army of almost million men and women under arms to insure Stalin's control through terror never ended. Hopeful we will never face the likes a Lt. Riva or the NKVD . Over all Garth's "Sara" is a excellent book well worth the read.

Great read, great illustrations
Great read, I've read it 4 times in less than a week. Sara is a Russian women sniper while the Germans are pushing towards Moscow. Compelling story, jumping front one plot line to another which I found kept my interest up. The illustrator can tell stories with slight changes in facial expressions. While I am not a expert on Russia in WWII, from what little I know I feel that this story, less dramatic and the story line spread over more people, could have happened. The illustrator makes you feel the cold of a Russian winter and gives a great feel for the time and place. True the Russians are above average in appearance and the Germans less so, but it is a story. I have to say I have not served, but I would like to know how close it is to the emotions a soldier can feel, for the the writer and illustrator have attempted this.

What a book!
To be honest, I was not really sure of what to expect when I bought this book. I have bought too many graphic novels that have promised much but then failed to deliver. This book was different. It focuses on the experiences of a female Soviet sniper during WWII. Yes, the Soviet forces did deploy women to fight at the front line, whether they were Witches that prevented the Germans from having quiet nights to Soviet snipers. This book did a great job of using the graphics capabilities of the medium to illustrate emotions and issues better than the text. You found yourself hoping that Sara would survive, only to realize that her chances were very slim (in light of the enormous losses suffered by the Soviet army). A great book - cannot be recommended enough.

TKO’s best.
Sara is everything I want from Ennis and Steve Epting. The story centers around a squad of mostly female Russian snipers in nazi occupied Russia during WW2. Each character is fleshed out and likable. The main protagonist and titular character reminds me a lot of marvel’s Black Widow combined with a dash of Sarah Conner from Terminator. The main plot of the book is the squad being tasked to hunt down a nazi sniper. It’s a tight story that is the perfect balance of slow burn to action packed. The ending is a gut punch much like a good amount of Ennis’ stories. The art is masterful. Epting’s best work since his Captain America run, in my opinion. Overall this book is worth every penny and more. Highly recommended. Easily my fav graphic novel of 2020.

Excellent story and art.
This was my first TKO title and I was impressed with a very interesting story and great art. The idea of female Russian snipers during World War II was nothing something I had heard of prior to this book. This will not be the last TKO title I pick up

Great read!
Awesome story, one of my favorite aspects is the attention to detail in explaining the chess match that snipers seem to consider in their heads.

The snipers On the Eastern front
A great book about a topic that only in the last years of the 20th century that is he Russians fought a call campaign against the German Army. Due to Stalin’s orders , “ not one step backwards” killed many many Soviet soldiers ( in Stalingrad, 13,500 Soviet were killed by the NKVD, which became the KGB in later years) This an excellent graphic best graphic story about the Eastern Front.

WWII women soldiers in Russia
The book focuses on Sara, a sniper in the Russian army during WWII, who has been allowed to serve, with other members of her all-female squad, because of the losses of soldiers and territory to the Nazi's during the war. Sara is easily the best shot and most proficient killer of her unit, to the point it is mentioned she has received a Medal for her actions in hunting down and killing over a hundred enemy soldiers from Stalin himself. But.She truly hates both the Nazi's AND her own government, she just has nowhere else to go. Her commanding officer has noticed that Sara seems to be permanently angry at almost everyone and everything, but can't get Sara to say why-and actually has to warn her to not mouth off where anyone outside the unit might hear her. As it turns out, what happened to make her the way she is is both simple and truly awful. The worst thing about it, though? How she finds out the truth...She and her unit are all well aware that if they are captured alive, they all face a fate worse than death. So they won't be-by any and all means.Which leads into the appearance of an elite Nazi sniper sent to hunt down Sara herself, who has gained the attention of Nazi command. Her unit knows she's the best of them, but if she can't win this snipers duel? Her hunter will kill them all. They are the only friends and family Sara has left, though, so the question is less will she succeed, it's more how far will she go to to make sure the hunter dies?Read the book and find out, it's brutal, but well-written and very well-drawn.

Powerful and realistic
Garth Ennis is never better than when he writes war stories. Clearly very well researched, this is the story of Sara, one of a group of female snipers in the early stages of WWII Eastern Front conflict. The story is plausible and realistic and the ending comes as a shock.

Thrilling and engrossing
A thrilling and engrossing war tale about Sara a Russian Sniper fighting the Germans on the Eastern Front during World War 2. Nor only do we have a short bit about how she became a sniper, but a great story about courage and determination by one woman and her other crew of female snipers. I also liked the cliff hanger ending too. Overall a great read. Ten out of ten.

Fantastic short story
The artwork is beautiful and pops out the page. The expressions, colours and mood is excelled. The story is brief but says all it needs to. There is friendship, testing of loyalty, the disillusionment with authority, the horrors of war and sacrifice/heroism. It's great

Unflinching war drama by Garth Ennis
Great, great story by Garth Ennis, who must be one of the best (if not THE best) modern writers of WW2 comic strips today. Also, for older readers like myself, this graphic novel is in hefty oversized format -a real plus! Excellent comic that will stand up to a re-read or three.
