Delta Power Equipment Corporation 17-003 3/8-Inch Professional Mortising Chisel and Bit Set

Economic but not a long shank auger. It makes nice tenons easily in soft woods but have to punch it a bit on hards. Gently. And I make sure to do a series of holes and clear them as one of the Utoob vids showed. (woodwhisperer I think) It keeps the weak auger from bending out of the line. It will try. I'm buying the Powermatic set next only because the 1/2 inch chisel I got won't (yet - working on it) fit my PM 701.

I currently own 2 Delta mortise chisel sets. One is 1/2” and the other is 5/16”. They are both over 20 years old and they are marked “Made in Austria”. I store them in the original boxes and those are also marked the same. They work very well. I needed a 3/8” chisel and I ordered this one. There is no indication in the chisel set or the package that indicates where it was made but I have my assumption. I tried to set the set up in my machine but the shank was undersized enough that the set screw pushed it off center and it chaffed against the bit. I put it to a micrometer and the diameter is .612. The older sets measured slightly less than .624”. Sloppy workmanship. Returned for a refund.

Works well even on very hard wood. Better that the original chisels that came with my delta mortising tool.

The bits arrived in good condition, but needed some additional sharpening before optimal performance.

Proper depth of bit is essential for achieving desired results and tool performance

it was sharp and cut clean.

Best price on a mortise chisel I could find at the time. I just needed this size to make the holes for the sides of baby crib. Worked perfectly.

With proper alignment it worked just like I wanted it to do. It did a very good job in cutting 3/8" mortises.

Es buen producto, sirvió para lo que tenía planeado. Pero nunca ni aquí ni en la página oficial de Delta, se pudo encontrar el ancho del adaptador... Si es algo muy importante, que se detalle todas las medidas de la broca.
