RealFyre Ember Glow (EM-1)

The product was exactly as advertised and works as I expected. The material on my 3 year old fireplace logs was nearly gone and I found this on Amazon.com. I thought the price was good and I always love having things delivered to the house rather than shopping around.

There were no directions as how to place the ember glow material in and around the logs. However I learned that the less you use the better it works. The material needs to be kind of pulled apart and the flames have to touch the ember glow product directly to have the desired effect. All in all the product works well.

We have a gas fireplace which has worked well in the ten years we've owned our home. Recently I became aware of these gas logs ember glow. We apparently had some similar products installed in our fireplace, but over time the original ember glow material has "faded". I bought this 6 oz. bag and added only a small amount at the base of the ceramic logs, just over the gas burner - as the instructions indicated, and the product works great. You definitely get that post-burn "glowing ember" effects, which are visually quite pleasing. This product works well, and seems to last nearly forever, so the small size bag will likely be sufficient for most consumer's purposes.

Works perfectly and makes the “fire” produced by the gas log insert look almost real.

Works well from an "ember" perspective, but with use the material turns an orange/rust like color that doesn't look the best when the fire isn't lit. Also, if I could design the product, I would prefer a more attractive color in general. Out of the bag the material is a grayish, slightly putty, color. Though not offensive, it doesn't look overly "fireplace natural".Is it a good product, sure. Could it be better, yes.

I love having my firplace burning when there is a chill in the air. So, to get ready I ordered new sand to cover the gas lines and this bag of glowing embers. They add magic to the fireplace even though the product looks dull and murky in the bag. When the flames hit the Ember Glow it looks so realistic.

Frankly, we were glad to just find this product at a relatively low cost... long-lasting (though you may wish to consider ordering two pouches depending on the size of your fireplace/frequency with which it's used).
