Tanzania 6 (inglés) (Lonely Planet)

I bought two Tanzania travel guides because I didn't know which would be the most helpful: This one and the one from Insight Guides. The Insight Guides book is a decent introduction, and the color photos are nice, but it is severely lacking in detail. Fortunately, the Lonely Planet guide provides far more detail. Overall, I found it to be a much more helpful book. Also, the Insight Guides book devoted a lot of pages to topics like history and culture. While those are interesting topics, they won't help you plan your trip. Te Lonely Planet book does include a fair amount of that information as well, but it doesn't detract from the travel information, which, of course, is the whole point of buying a travel guide. In short, this is the book you want if you're planning a trip to Tanzania.

Really good travel guide! I purchased this for a planned trip and it helped me feel far more prepared. I had spent my childhood growing up in Africa and have the fondest memories of Tanzania especially. This travel guide was very thorough and did a good job of presenting some options for varying budgets, from basic options to luxury options. I appreciated the maps very much but was hoping for a more recent edition. This hasnt been updated for three years during which time so much can change. Hotels and safari tour operators can come and go. Great photographs. I highly recommend this book.

Very handy to have in Tanzania! I learned a lot about the national parks I visited and the cultural customs. The only thing I would want added to this book are some visitors opinions such as: appropriate clothing, tipping practices, more info on the weather and buying food in the markets. I stayed in Arusha and would have appreciated a bit more info on how to navigate city life in Tanzania.

This as a kindle companion to my real life trip to Tanzania. But I was traveling in group tour mode. So I didn't make use of the whole book. It was very helpful to provide context or history to the places that I did go.

Good travel book, but realize that the print is very small.

Great review from such a great country.I was just expecting a bit more info on the routes to climb Kilimanjaro (a small map showing them would be useful). Asides this detail, everything is LP level!
