Thoughtfully designed with the user in mind!
At the same time that I purchased the "Birds" picture book from Sunny Street Books, I also purchased a word-search book (from another author/seller) designed for people with dementia. I planned on sending them together. However, the word-search book had a terrible introduction and forward from the author that explicitly stated these puzzles were designed for people with "cognitive challenges" who find "the commercial versions of these puzzles too hard." The forward went on to say, "I want to help the Alzheimer's Association stop this devastating disease from stealing people's memories and ruining their lives and the lives of those who love them." Geez. What I love most about Sunny Street Books is the discreet packaging – my grams will never know why the book is designed the way it is, but I *know* it's something she'll love and will bring her joy and comfort. From the seller, "At no time is anything mentioned about Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, or any other challenges the reader might be facing. This book can be given to your loved one without fear that they might feel embarrassed or offended." The thoughtfulness of the design is worth every penny! So grateful for these books.

Beautiful book!
I bought this book as a gift for my grandmother with dementia. I’m so happy with the quality. The photos are really sharp and the colors are bright. It’s so hard to find things to give my grandma that she can enjoy, but she loved this book. She used to have a bird feeder in her backyard and she loved watching the birds who came to it. I think it makes her feel like she’s bird watching again!

Beautiful quality picture book of birds.
I'm very pleased with quality and content of this book. I ordered the book for my dear friend's mother who is suffering with Alzheimer's. She's really enjoying the book! I brought my four year old granddaughter with me to present it to her and they both had a great time going through it together. (Incidently, I saw the review saying the photo of the Robin was incorrectly labeled but, it is not incorrect. Robins vary from different parts of the world.) My friend is now going to order a few more books for her mom.

An approach that uplifts the spirit of people with dementia
My mother has had vascular dementia for many years, and books like this, with beautiful photos of nature and wildlife are uplifting for her. Written texts miss the mark for someone who cannot recall the opening sentence if a paragraph by the time she reaches its end. A few captions if short are helpful, however.

Great for Folks with Dementia
I bought this book for my 87 year old mother who suffers from dementia, her issue specifically is she has no short term memory. Everytime she opens this book it's like she's seeing the pictures for the first time - it keeps her distracted but more importantly happy as the pictures are quite beautiful and she loves looking at birds.

These beautifully illustrated books are perfect for people with Alzheimer's/other dementias.
I ordered Sunny Streets' "Birds" and "National Parks" books for my brother-in-law whose diagnosis is "Dementia with Lewy Bodies." He wasn't interested in the books at first, but now, some months later, he really enjoys looking through them and discussing what he sees in the books and what he knows about the subjects with us or a caregiver. The photos are large, lifelike and colorful. He takes great pleasure in looking through these wonderfully illustrated books. Highly recommend.

Mother-in-Law Loves This Book
My mother-in-Law has dementia and she loves to look through this book for the pictures. Other than the names of each bird, there are no words to read - just beautiful bird pictures. Money well spent!

Not an English book as stated
Not very happy with the book as it is American wording and some American birds that are different pictures to those of the uk.My friend with dementia will.be even more confused now.It stated in the description that it was English, but it refers to cockerals as roosters, budgies as parakeets and the picture of the starling is completely different from ours.

Good pictures
I bought this to inspire interest in birds for children. Lots of bright pictures. Good quality paper. This is one of those self-published books printed by Amazon, but all the pictures are good quality (although the puffin looks a little weird). The selection of birds is very good as well, they are all iconic birds, many of which would be seen in the backyard.
