Friday: Director's Cut (BD)Just another day. But what a day. A day that shows a lighter side to life in the hood. That brought Ice Cube (Barbershop) and Chris Tucker (Rush Hour) to a wider audience. And thats now even more uproarious in an Extended Directors Cut never before available. Its Friday, and Craig (Cube) and Smokey (Tucker) must come up with $200 they owe a local bully or there wont be a Saturday. Co-writer Cube, director F. Gary Gray and other innovative movie talents lace the plot with shrewdly hilarious looks at family (including John Witherspoon), a preacher (Bernie Mac), a girl-next-door (Nia Long) and all manner of the good N bad of life in South Central. This is keepin-it-real comedy for every day of the week. Special Features: New Featurette: FRIDAY STRAIGHT UP Introduction From Ice Cube Q&A Interviews with F. Gary Gran and Patricia Charbonnet Additional Scenes Music Videos - Ice Cube "Friday" and Dr. Dre "Keep Their Heads Ringin"]]

This is the Directors Cut I am reviewing.
But the review can also work for the standard version of Friday (1995). Because there is so very little in extra scenes placed into the Directors Cut. It's like 8 minutes or something. The only really noticeable extra content is right at the start. Ezel comes running down the street carrying two suitcases. He drops one then stumbles and picks it up. Looking back in a panic. Then runs on. A couple of kids sitting at the kerb watch him. One says "Is he still at that" or something along those lines. Like Ezel has a reputation for stealing luggage. Then right after the boy says that. Him and his pals get assaulted with a garden hose by the guy who's house Smokey and Deebo rob later on. There is also an extended scene where Craig visits his dad in the bathroom. Then an extra scene near the end with the same setup. That's about it. Very minor extra content. So if you have the standard version don't go out of your way for the Directors Cut.Still Friday is a solid comedy. Nice atmosphere and a perfect piece of escapism.

alot can go down between thursday and saturday...
This movie is hilarious! As far as comedies go about the hood, this one is hands down the best. Chris Tucker and Ice Cube really mix up nicely in this one. This is a feel good movie and doesn't glorify the gritty hard reality violence of the inner city at all, but rather focuses on strugglin to make it with good humor and staying positive. This movie is downright laugh out loud caliber. The situations this odd couple is forced into are interesting and very funny. The re-watch value for Friday is tremendous and the characters are beautifully developed. There are some true memorable moments in Friday, and even more memorable characters. This is just a fun movie from start to finish and never tries to be perfect. Thank you for keeping it light, and to the point. All we wanted was some fun and it was delivered with Friday.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Must buy
I watched this years ago, never had the dvd but when I seen this at the price, I couldn't give it a miss!If you get this, you must get the other 2 as once you see one, you want to see the rest! Probably the best out the 3, Chris Tucker is his usual self, flirting with nice girls, and hitting out with funny lines! Ice Cube is very cool in this, weird seeing him act after growing up listening to him, but his acting is brilliantFriday has a great story line, which I won't spoil! All I'll say is alot can happen between Thursday & Saturday

Friday - A Film That Once Watched You Will Never Forget
This film is a excellent portrayal of life eleven years ago in America. Not only does this film have laughter, punch-lines and memorable characters but a meaning and a resemblance of life back then and a similarity with life even today. I first watched this film in 2001 at the tender age of 13, I remember watching it with my older brother and really enjoying it. The main basis of the film has already been commented on through many other reviews, so I will keep it short. The film follows Craig (Ice Cube) on a Friday and shows the obstacles that he faces. This must have some meaning as it started Chris Tucker's career and he is phenomenal in this. I feel the following two films could have been so much better if he was included in them but Chris Tucker decided against Friday 2 to get paid $25 Million for RushHour Two instead. In conclusion, this film must be watched by anyone who considers themselves a "Gangsta" and really anyone who enjoys "Rap" which is nearly every teenager now, as this film has many Rap based songs and is hugely enjoyable to most.
