Balloonology

I bought this book several months ago, and my 13 year old son and I have been slowly working our way through this book one project at a time. We have been learning so much and filling our house with new balloon creations.The author does not teach you simply how to make a few different things, but how to design, what each technique is used for, and why different techniques are used in different structures. My son and I read his instructions out loud together, and then read then again as we follow them. Pictures make the difficult spots much easier. We have had a few spots where it took us a few attempts to truly understand what he meant, but that is perfectly normal even when a teacher is standing right in front of you.The book is designed to work through in order, with each new creation building on the skills from the previous one. It is also funny. He strongly encourages people to make many, many of each item, making sure that you truly know the skill and can use it whenever you want to. We;re just a few chapters in at the moment, and my son is already making some of his own designs based on what we know so far.

I've been making balloon animals for years and used to make them for parties, but not at the level of the creations pictured in this book, so I thought this would help me up my game. I like the ideas for advanced balloon creations, and the photos of the finished works are inspiring.However, it's really hard to understand the author's explanations of how to make the different balloons. Even with my experience, I often have no idea what the author's talking about, and there aren't enough pictures of the steps to help figure out what he means.Also, the different balloon creations are scattered throughout the book, without an index. I wish I could just look for "dolphin" or "pumpkin," etc, in the table of contents or an index, and then go straight to the directions, but there's no way to do that. The only way to find directions for a specific balloon creation is to flip through every single page. Reading on my iPhone Kindle app, that takes forever!So, I would recommend this book if you're looking for some really cool ideas and you can figure out how to make them by just looking at a picture of the final product. But, if you're looking for clear instructions, or a way to look up how to make specific fancy balloon creations, this is probably not the book for you.

Got this for my daughter after receiving a balloon kit with pictures and no instructions on how to form balloons. This fit the bill. Some good step by step with pictures. I wish there were a few more beginner forms, but a good range of beginner to advanced. Helpful information on balloon choices, as well.

I'm a beginner balloon artist, and by artist I mean most my balloons end up popped or looking nothing like they are supposed to. I bought this book in hopes that my current balloon skills would get better. I did learn to make a few of the easier balloons, but often found myself confused over what the author meant on certain things. It's sad to say (because I love buying books and recommending books, but watching free youtube videos was more effective in growing my skills in the balloon world. I give this book a 3 stars, because it was aight. The author's tone was great and funny, I just found it hard to follow at times. Again, I am a beginner and maybe once I get better referencing it back, I may change my opinion..

This book explains more about balloons than any book I have tried concerning balloons. It well surpassed my expectations. Especially wonderful for beginners

This book is awesome. I am new to the art and needed a beginners book. The color pictures and directions are easy to follow and several of the designs are absolutely adorable and will make anyone smile. The author is funny and offers several tips. Some of the designs are really complex and I don't have the time to create these in my volenteer activities. However, almost all of the designs in this book can be made in around a minute with practice. Designs include monkey w/ banana, octopus, snake, flower, dolphin, flamingo, 3 mice patterns, moose, horse, pig, frog, lion, skeleton, bee, princess, helicopter, man, seahorse, starfish, jet, butterfly, dog, sword, and a few more.

I just bought this book, and I haven't had time to really decide how good it is. Unfortunately a review box keeps opening up and it's forcing me to give a review, so here's my review.There are a few issues with this book... like with the making of the designs.I am an experienced balloon artist, I'm finding some of the explanations very complicated, and on several of the designs, it isn't stated how much to inflate the balloon.

the book was for a party and it did help make animals for the kids. It was clear enough that we managed to make even the more complicated things. Seriously it's just so nice to find the book you're looking for on Amazon and not have to go driving around.

Very useful to help me teach myself so I could do modelling balloons for the kids.

I bought this for my 8yr old daughters birthday. It is no way for beginners!! It has 2 picture illustrations for each model you want to make and the rest is all reading, very hard to get to grips with. Even the simplest animals are made difficult to understand. Very frustrating and Definatly not for children. Fast delivery though.

VERY good book to learn new balloon art, I have purchased a number of balloon art books and this is the best so far, loads of new models to try and learn, I like it as it shows great pictures and is easy to read and understand for me and my children...

Not a bad book had colouful pages dont think it was worth the money

Its is a very good book if you are looking to advance a basic too intermediate skill already as some of the models are quite intricate
