Georgina has married into the fabulously wealthy Clios family, for a year enjoying the luxurious Riviera lifestyle. Suddenly a yacht explosion and no more husband Constantine. Now horrendous revelations. The family's glamorous facade conceals corruption at its core. Close connection with Russian mobsters. Its banking empire dodgy. Art auctions a cover for major money laundering. How will Georgina cope with nothing as it once seemed? Will she also be drawn into a web of intrigue, perhaps even murder?The screen has abounded with dysfunctional families amid glorious scenery. So often they are ever more outrageous and fun. Normally I am hooked, ever wanting more.Not this time. Little seems to work - from the grating signature tune, to a collection of dislikeable characters often caught up in storylines that beggar belief. Thank goodness for Julia Stiles as Georgina, she helping to add substance. What about some of the others, though - including Lady Cassandra Eltham and those ludicrous secrets contained in a nearby chateau?Lacking any humour itself, the show seems with scriptwriters having a laugh, certain sequences giving the impression of having been introduced at a whim (horses, anyone?).Sorry to be so dismissive but, against better judgement, I only stayed on in the hope of seeing certain unpleasant characters receive long-overdue comeuppance. Unfortunately at the end of it all several are still around,the aim obviously a Season 3.Oh dear, but good news indeed for fans who have greeted everything so far with joy.
