Does what it Claims to do ....
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. I bought this as a last resort before tearing down my 75 gallon tank completely … I tried several different filters and even tried removing all lights and wrapped the tank in a black blanket for 5 days … plus 3 different 75 - 80 % water changes and could not get rid of the Algae Bloom … I didn't want to go the Chemical route so was researching other options when I came across the Green Killing Machine … a UV Sterilizer .. I figured why not try it .. AND IT WORKED !!! .. if my video plays you can see what happened in just 5 days .. it went from looking like the Scioto River to clear as an Olympic Pool … I kid you not … seriously … I didn't see much change the first two days .. but day 3 was an improvement .. day 4 was better .. and day 5 is Amazing … my only gripe for not giving 5 stars is they sent me a USED one .. it was already assembled … but what the heck … it still did it's job ….

32 Biocube and Dinoflagellates
I ordered this for an infestation of ostreopsis/coolia dinos that have been plaguing my biocube for around 4 months. At first, I was skeptic because everyone on the reef keeping forums were purchasing UV units to handle dinos. My recommendation for the eradication of dinoflagellates with this unit is as follows:1. Raise your Nitrates and Phosphates in the water to the proper ratio (Redfield ratio of 16:1 Nitrates:Phosphates).2. Maintain this level of nutrients to enable other forms of algae and life to compete with the dinoflagellates as dinos are very efficient in low-to-no nutrients.3. Run a UV sterilizer at roughly 1 watt per 2 US gallons. Keep running the UV sterilizer for a month or two, while maintaining a shorter lighting cycle (10 hours max).4. Stand back and watch this bad boy take care of the nasties and produce crystal clear water.5. RUN ACTIVATED CARBON. Some species of dinos release toxins into the water that are harmful for fish and coral. Change this once a week while you're dealing with a breakout.

You get what you pay for. Won't be making that mistake again.
This item was a HUGE let down. So much so, that I am writing my first ever Amazon review to warn others... I have a 125 gallon saltwater tank, and I thought this product would help with the longevity of things. I liked the thought of it being an in tank light vs. something you'd hook up to a sump or canister because this meant I'd be able to easily switch it between tanks whenever I wanted. When the product arrived it wasn't wrapped carefully in plastic like the reviews shown. Just sitting in some cardboard inside the box. There was no unwrapping involved at all... The product had scrapes and scratches all over it. I overlooked those flaws because really, all I cared about was the product working. As long as it did as intended, I really didn't care what it looked like. After FINALLY getting it together properly because let's face it, the directions suck. (You have to turn the entire thing sideways to even have it fit properly with the pump.) The control box wouldn't stay attached to the glass. Or wall. Or stand. Or anything. So I left it hanging there. Again, as long as the product worked, I could figure that out.Unfortunately, the light, the entire reason I purchased this product in the first place, didn't work. It wouldn't turn on. Even the indicator light on the hanging control panel wasn't turning on. I unplugged and replugged everything. Checked all my connections. I even called my husband upstairs and asked him for help because I was sure I was just incredibly stupid and I must be missing something.Nope! I'm assuming I got someone's old, used product, rather than what I actually ordered. This item was definitely used beforehand and definitely not new or even in working condition. The product is being returned. I will be purchasing my UV light elsewhere. I thought I could save some money and get a product, but unfortunately that's not the case. This might have been a good product had it actually been new... or worked for that matter, but I won't be purchasing again. Tread with caution people. You get what you pay for.

bought this little puppy and 24hrs later my tank looked like something outta a pet store showing off it's prize ...
ABSOLUTELY MUST BUY!!!!!.....I was skeptical at first because most review showed mostly freshwater tanks...I have a 75G saltwater that had a bacteria outbreak...water was murky and I could barely see through the tank... bought this little puppy and 24hrs later my tank looked like something outta a pet store showing off it's prize tank!!!...in fact the sterilizer made the water clearer than my initial setup...easy install...Good investment...YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED...

used it to clear bacteria bloom in 180g tank ... it worked perfectly.
bought this because I had a problem. a mature 180g tank was experiencing a major bacteria bloom (white, cloudy water) that had persisted for about a month. nothing I tried would resolve it.bought the 24W GKM, even though it is rated only for "up to 120 gallons" (that's what it says on the box, anyway). improvement was dramatic within just a few days, and after 1 week+ of running, the water is back to crystal clear. I run it on a timer, 12 hours/day … might back that off to only 8 hours a day, now that problem is resolved.can't say how it would handle other problems - - algae, parasites, etc. - - but for a bacteria bloom, the GKM beat all expectations/hopes I had for it.
