I found some genuinely intersting bits on Mazdayasnan belief, here and there.Try to ignore references to sepoys and the EIC if you can-- its a book rooted for all time in its own epoch.**Minor quibble: Artaxerxes = Ardashir I.(Sasanian royalty gave not a fig for the Darius and co. of old Aechaeminid times; the mythical "Kayanids" were their inspiration (think England's King Arthur and Merlin)).

A very good and interesting overview of the Sassanid Persian Empire. A little dated perhaps but an ideal reference book on this Empire.
