Colors Live

This is a great cd to pick up if you don't already have the Colors album because they do this whole album from start to finish without stopping. There is no way you can decypher the difference between the album Colors as to the live version. You also get the entire set of the Colors album which you get on the cd. Then at the end of the entire Colors album you get a second set with some of their best tracks from their previous albums. My favorite from the 2nd set is Selkies:The Endless Obsession. Particularly because my first time hearing Between the Buried and Me i got introduced by Alaska. Alaska to this day is still my favorite album. But if your new to the band or want to get a visual perspective then get Colors Live cd and also get their first 2 albums Self titled(1st) and Silent Circus(2nd) but get the Special Edition of it or reissue if you do not have it,it contains a live dvd with older stuff from their first 3 albums(the 2 i just mentioned as well as Alaska) That is another GREAT dvd. The new stuff is okay but this is great.

I usually do not buy too many live releases unless I really like a band. That is the case for me with Between The Buried And Me. I really love the masterpiece that is Colors, but I enjoy everything they have done. If you like Colors, this is a must get CD/DVD combo. The performance will blow you away, and the sound quality is stellar. With this release you get the entire Colors album performed live and an excellent set of tunes from other albums, but the audio CD is only 8 tracks of Colors Live. The amazing musicianship is apparent, but what you see in the video is a group that really loves what they do. This was performed with passion and conviction. If you love Progressive Metal, this should be a must buy. I realize BTBAM is an acquired taste, but the sheer talent should draw you in. Colors Live gets my highest recommendation.

I was so excited to hear about them making a live CD, especially of Colors, which was the first CD I had heard from them. The CD is SICK!! Amazing quality, and the performance is amazing. I can't rave enough about it. Only draw-back, it's ONLY the 8-song setlist of Colors. This is where the DVD becomes BETTER than amazing!! Where the CD portion of it lacks, the DVD recovers in stride. There are another 6 songs ranging from their Debut to their 2005 release, Alaska.The special features are a little left-to-be-desired. The documentary is funny at times and gives you a great view of the band but overall is kinda boring. (also could be that I was trying to pack and move while having that on as background noise. Wasn't paying too much attention but what I did take a break and watch was okay, but not outstanding!)Overall: a KILLER buy and a must-have for any longtime or recent BTBAM fan.

I have all of BTBAM's Cd's and was excited to hear that they were coming out with a DVD. I only got to see them once and missed there set another time, so this will hold me off till I see them play again. I'm glad to have a DVD to watch of there live performance which is flawless, and the audio CD is live as well. I only wish they had more songs but who doesn't. I was so happy that Shevanel Cut A Flip was in there set and of course Selkies: The Endless Obsession. I only wish that the camera would stay on target a little better with who was playing. It's a great DVD worth every penny and hope they have more tasty tunes to come.

When listening colors for the first time, it was pretty clear that their tour with Dream Theater and Opeth had an influence on their composition. The first listening of this album left me a little bit behind.It is further on when seeing the band live again that I realized how some of the songs in this album are good which decided me in purchasing the Live version.Colors live is performed flawlessly and the DVD coming with the CD is actually enjoyable without going toward an over produced footage.

I was really looking forward to getting this in the mail, but upon opening the package and opening the CD cover, the little middle plastic wedges that hold the CD in place (as well as the DVD on the other side) were completely broken. Might've happened during shipping... but other than that, the CD sounds great and the DVD works just fine. Anyways, these guys are an absolutely amazing band and I'm shocked I haven't discovered them in my earlier years! 🤘🏼

I bought this dvd thinking Amazon would have it here 2 days later (this is a Prime product). Here we are 2 days after purchase and now Amazon is saying it will be 4 more days. I thought I would be able to enjoy watching this over the holidays so I'm disappointed. If the dvd magically gets here tomorrow I will update my rating to 4 stars at the most.Update: I changed to a 5 star rating just because of how awesome this concert/dvd is. Still frustrated with Amazon for having to wait 6 days on a Prime eligible product.

Actually got this for a friend 'cause I broke the dvd they let me borrow bringing it back to them in my backpack. Anyway speedy delivery and I also got the digital download for this. Everybody wins! Great album of course, the DVD was just as great if not mesmerizing lolol

Progressive Technical Metal is the classical music of the Metal genre. Longer songs, typically 8 minutes plus with music in waves like a symphony. This makes the music a challenging and rewarding listen as with every repeated listen there is something new to appreciate in a blink and you'll miss it fashion. Each song could be broken down into several shorter pieces should anyone wish, each one full of ideas and great musicianship.Between the Buried and Me in the company of long tim producer Jamie King have produced some of the finest Progressive Tech-Metal. "The Silent Circus" got them a reputation but it was "Alaska" and then "Colors" that cemented that reputation. The listener is constantly pushed as the band produce little nuances that throw out the rule book. There is nothing "straightforward" about BTBAM and that's why they are loved. They are pioneers of the genre.Colors_LIVE documents the Colors Tour with the album played in full in the first half of a two hour set which is then followed up by a second half of selected works. The live show itself is in a club setting with minimal crowd shots and the focus on the band. Minimal lighting and a focus on the musicianship with camera angles catching the finest of the action. The audio quality is spot on perfect and BTBAM are at the height of their powers as players. If you don't get to see the band live, then this is an extremely decent second best.

Masterpiece.

Es ist eigentlich kein Live-Album, sondern eine Live-DVD mit CD-Beigabe ;-) Man kann die Musik die BTBAM machen mögen oder nicht, aber man erkennt auf der DVD, dass es wahre Musiker sind. Musiker, die lieben was die tun und die Instrumente beherrschen, die sie bedienen. Das haben sie auch schon mit ihrem Cover-Album "The Anatomy Of" gezeigt. Hier der Beweis, dass es eben keine Studio-Frickel-Effekte-Band ist. Wer dazu die Musik noch mag ist durchaus geneigt das Prädikat "perfekt" zu vergeben ;-)

Voilà je l'ai écrit, que c'est bon. Ces jeunots ont tout pour eux, la maîtrise technique au service d'une énergie de tous les instants. Tout va vite, très vite, la basse est précise et les deux guitares distillent les riffs et les soli jusqu'à plus soif. A peine fini d'un côté et ça repart dans une autre direction. La batterie lourde et précise. Bref BTBAM est la découverte pour moi, et me donne envie d'écouter à nouveau du métal prog; j'avais lâché le morceau devant les productions actuelles qui ne font plus rêver même au théâtre (... ! ) , sauf peut être Amplifier si on classe ce groupe dans cette catégorie, mais là ce n'est que du bonheur. Un seul mot, BRAVO.
