The Jim Dunlop M152 MXR Micro Flanger is a compact yet powerful effects pedal that features true bypass technology, allowing for an uncolored signal when disengaged. All settings are safe
As a flanger, it does what it was meant to do. It flanges the sound nicely. Even though it's called a "micro" flanger, it's actually larger than most flangers listed on Amazon (roughly the size of the full-sized Tube Screamer, an average-sized pedal). It has fewer dial options than most flangers; specifically, it lacks the ability to adjust the depth. This means that while it can still sound like a passing jet, it will only be a high-flying jet and not the impressive low-flying type (when used with overdrive). At first, this may seem like a serious issue, until one realizes that a person cannot realistically perform a song with a jet (and then we find ourselves doing everything we can to avoid letting it sound that way). Most importantly, though, I would note that all settings are safe. For those who have experimented with the cheaper and much smaller models available in other brands (which I suspect are all clones of each other), such people have probably accidentally discovered that the color/regen knob can easily be turned up too far, resulting in a very sudden and powerful feedback that could destroy hearing, and/or equipment. This pedal doesn't do that. All settings are safe. What can it do? The regen knob controls how much flange the sound gets. This, if I understand correctly, is a partial feedback loop, which is why higher regen levels also give higher volume output. As far as I know, the relationship between this effect level and the output volume exists with all flangers, though with this particular pedal the output volume is noticeably higher. I have to pair it inversely with a clean boost (TC Electronic Spark); I turn one on and turn the other off. The other control knob is the the speed of the flange, ranging from a stately swirl to a silly wobble. One other note: it comes with two plastic knobs to be turned by hand, or, if you prefer, you can add the included rubber sleeves over the knobs to make them more adjustable by foot. However, if you change your mind and decide to take the rubber covers back off again, you might not succeed. I didn't. Don't put them on if you don't want them on permanently.

Awesome
Love that vintage tone. MXR are my favorite vintage tone pedals. Great quality, always were and still live up to the name.

Great Flanger Pedal
This is a great intro to Flanger. Perfect sound, and very easy to dial in. Works well with a power supply.

A pretty darn good flanger.
I am not a big user of flanger and my only comparison is with the flanger that is in the Boss ME 70 multi-effects pedal. This unit sounds good and is adjustable. It appears to give a few db boost whether or not you want it. There is no apparent degradation of signal when not in use. There is no "subtle" setting on the flanger, and so when it is on you know it. I think it is pretty cool and I mostly use it on my Fenders when I looking for heavy rock sound with overdrive..

Best flanger
I tried a couple flanger pedals and this is the one. Well built, compact, simplified. I view the simplification of the 2 potentiometer system as a benefit for the segment. Great sound

I didn't know I needed it until I had it!
NOTE: I'm not stupid, I know there's a vast difference between Phase and Flange.I was running an MXR Phase 95. It was fine but the "sweeping" sounds through out the treble and mid range were so extreme it would totally washout the low end. There was no happy middle. So when I picked up the MXR flanger it was night & day! The "sweep" was more consistent and subtle. The entire range wasn't washed out and it was overall a clear signal with beautiful hint of chorus-like tone. It was ALL happy middle! Exactly what I needed!

Awesome
This is a great flanger and easy to operate with a small footprint on my pedal board! I bought this to replace my evh flanger which also sounded great but started acting up on me. This pedal will get the van Halen tones also 70's hard rock, think heart's barracuda even 90's grundge like sound garden's black hole sun. I'm a very busy gigging musician and this pedal will do all I need.

Simplicity
I like that it's simple to use and you get a wide variety of sounds. Best value for the money.

Excelente

Another great MXR product
A family of products that works hard for the gigging player. The flanger is a beauty!

It's an absolute stunner.
I play electro-acoustic guitars and do not use distortion. My comments also apply to electric guitar through a clean channel. This flanger is terrific. It sounds good and is very easy to use. Whereas others, even cheap ones, may have three, four or even more controls, this does a great job with two.The usual metallic machine noises are absent. Instead, it offers a range of sweet tones that you might not think of when you see the word "flanger". Before buying a chorus, a phaser, or a rotary effect, hear this little box of marvels; it can replace all three. It's more versatile than you'd think and every setting is a treat for the ears.Five stars don't do it justice.
