Light Screens Illustrated - The Stained Glass Windows of Frank Lloyd Wright Paperback – May 27, 2008

This book is a MUST HAVE for anyone who is a fan of FLW's work but especially for glass artists who are looking at the design aspects of FLW's light screens. I have a very large library of books on FLW's work both architecture and design and I think just about every book written on the subject of his 'light screens'. I only say this to point out that of all the book that I have on the subject that not one is more definitive in illustrating size, shape, design and lead used. In several instances even the placement of the windows in the building is shown to great effect... I found this particularly interesting in the section on the Coonley Playhouse. I have prettier books on the subject, no doubt. But for raw technical data that is beautifully illustrated and easy to grasp, look no further, this is the book. As a glass artist, this book has been invaluable to me. Many thanks to Dennis Casey for this excellent addition to my library.

I had hoped it would be exhaustive. Silly of me. Unreasonable. But at the price I paid I did hope. In any case, if you love FLW glass, you will not be disappointed by the clear, scale illustrations of his amazing designs. Bravo!

I was looking for examples of Frank Lloyd Wright's glass work and there are several books with patterns but few examples of the designs in color. This book has the best selection of colored examples without doubt. It also goes into the type of came that was used, and that helps me understanding why they look they way they do.

This is a good book if you want to understand how Wright glass in his buildings are made. This is not a complete catalog of his glass, which is what I am looking for. I think it would be interesting to someone who makes stained glass.

Not what I expected. Some drawings will be usable. I do not recommend this book. If you are interested in "Prairie School" architectural glass learn about the Frank Lloyd Wright Trust. Wright's work is currently being studied at Avery Architectural Library at Columbia University.
