Savvy Buyer
My toilet was running, I needed a new flow value immediately. I ordered it in the morning it arrived later that day. It was super easy to install, easy to adjust, works great and it appears to be quality product. Very Happy.

Perfect for rounded triangle hole
If you need this part, then this is the part you need. You’re not going to be able to make some universal kit work. If you have a one-piece Kohler toilet with a hole that is shaped like a Wankel rotor, this is what you’re looking for. The main body is about 3” diameter, and the canister that moves up and down when flushing is ~5.75” tall.Installation seems daunting, but is simple enough. Disassemble it by removing the yellow disc at the top and sliding off the floating canister. Twist that beam in the middle and remove it, leaving the base. Stretch the gasket over the bottom ears (I had the flat side down), pour some dish soap on the bottom, and set it in the hole, making sure the ears are lined up with the points of the triangle hole. Set a rag on top and push down hard and twist. It will eventually move into the locked position. It takes a good amount of force, and I think plenty of soap is necessary for the gasket to slide. I’ve attached a picture of what it looks like at this step. Then just reassemble the other pieces.

Product was in fine shape.
Product was in fine shape, but packaging was in sad shape. But the toilet part was fine. Hard to find these anymore.

Follow the instructions, very easy to install!
The instructions say to use dish soap to lubricate the areas that touch the bottom tank seal/gasket. Make sure you do that. First, separate the cylinder assembly from the base / gasket unit by pushing and lightly turning the yellow disc. Next, align the three tabs with the three slots in the. tank. Then use enough downward force along with a mild rotational force to lock in the three tabs. Next, determine the proper chain length and attach it to the cylinder. then reunite the cylinder assembly to the base with a light push and clockwise turn on the yellow disc. Push the bowl fill tube onto the post on the top of the yellow disc and whalla, your done. Good luck!

Tricks to make installation easier
This unit is very difficult to install partly because there is limited space in the toilet tank. I was successful by first taking the unit apart and removing the base by twisting the black, vertical plastic rod so that the 2 ears on the BOTTOM of the rod slipped into the 2 slots that hold the rod to the base. I tried to be gentle when twisting the rod to avoid breaking the 2 ears, and I was successful. I removed the vertical rod with the yellow cap from the base flange. This freed the base from the unit. The base, which is about 3-4" tall, was now accessible to my hand and I was able to put significant weight on the base to compress and turn the flange seal. Remember to coat the flange seal with dish soap. And remember to reinsert the black plastic rod into the base once the unit is secure.

Worked like a charm - for one piece toilet tank with triangular valve hole
If you have a one piece Kohler toilet with a triangular hole at the bottom of tank, this is the part for you. Thank goodness, I checked the reviews of this product and saw photos of the product and the compatible toilet tanks from other reviewers.Put copious amount of dish soap on both sides of the rubber gasket, push down hard with a rough towel and spin. The “barbs” easily spin and lock right into place. No more annoying water leaks and tank filling up automatically every few minutes

Perfect for 3” opening Kohler Santa Fe one piece
Kohler website shows a 2” canister replacement for the Santa Fe one piece toilet (1216612). After much research the 1216616 canister is recommended for the version of this toilet that was manufactured in Mexico which has a 3” opening. Even though inside the tank it said made in USA, I believe it was made in Mexico.Bottom line is it was a perfect replacement.
