SPAL Automotive USA 30100394 7.5 Inch Fan/Pusher 407Cfm

This fan was being used as a condenser fan on a custom build. As with any custom build, things take time. I ordered the fan in January, completed the A/C system of the build and had the system charged and functional by April. It is cool in Colorado until late May and I only drive this car on nice days and for track events. While driving home from a track day I was sitting at a light and heard an obnoxious rattle coming from the front of my car. I pulled into a parking lot to inspect and initially feared it was coming from my A/C compressor. However, I soon realized it was coming from the condenser fan. I turned off the A/C and when the fan stopped, so did the rattle. The next day I began disassembly to gain access to the fan. As soon as the fan was off of the car I could shake it and hear something rattling. I then proceeded to tear down the fan to gain access to the motor housing. When I removed the motor housing I found what is pictured. One of the four brushes managed to come out of its housing and was bouncing off of the armature while the fan was spinning. Amazon was no help, I was advised to contact SPAL. SPAL says they have a three year warranty, but that the warranty is through the seller. So, in this case, Amazon won't do anything and so far SPAL hasn't made a decision on whether or not they will stand behind their product. I know this much, I only bought the fan from Amazon because I couldn't find it from other sellers. But, I'm getting tired of getting stuck with sub par, name brand parts because of Amazon's policies.

So much better than the garbage Chicom fans for half the price. You get what you pay for.
