Thanks to other reviews which I rely heavily on, I bought these and I'm thrilled with them. I, like some others, did NOT use the adhesive as I didn't want to damage the wood. There's absolutely no slip and I really wondered since I literally just had my floors refinished 2 months ago so they're extra slick. The treads stay in place! I got these for my 15 year old dog who slides easily on the steps and I'm wanting to avoid falls as she ages. Also got them because my cat who is only 1 sometimes likes to run up and down the stairs in the middle of the night and she's really LOUD. Loud enough to wake you loud. Now I can't hear a thing :) I highly recommend these and I was not compensated in any way for this review!

These are great and are a nice alternative to professional carpet installation, especially if you like the look of your hardwood. I have two German Shepherds and my oldest has issues on the hardwood stairs after running. These offer great traction for him getting up the stairs for his back paws to push off from, without sliding or slipping. He’s around 120lbs.

Reason:The stairs became very difficult for our dog very quickly. Needed something fast and easy to install. These have worked great so far. Our dog can go up the stairs so much easier now. It’s a nice cushion for us as well and even grandparents have complimented how secure they feel using out stairs now.Packaging:They came a little bent because of how they were folded in the box. But they flattened out. Came with brush and tape.Tape: Did not use the tape yet, since we wanted them to flatten out first. They’ve been staying in place very well. Will add the tape soon just for safety.Suggestions:Wishing there singles were available for purchase since I have a couple of steps missing.

Works great. Bought another set (don't want to have to search for this in 2 years when something happens to one tread). Specifically for dogs, and specifically because it has enough "grab" to be safe going up and down the stairs, without having to permanently affix to the stair -- and not enough that I think it will mar the wood finish over time.

I recently remove carpet for wooden (fir) stairs. The treads had lots of water stains, so I painted them with a good, dark floor paint. But then, they were a bit slippery and showed every bit of dust. I ordered these mats and was very pleased with how they looked and adhered to the treads without glue, nor carpet tape. I gave only four stars because these mats were shipped in a box that was shorter then their length, which made the mats curl and not lay flat. I set them outside in the sun for a couple of hours and then put them on the stairs. I just don't understand why the mats can't be shipped in a box that is the same length as the mats to avoid curling.

These are perfect for our stairs. The backing doesn’t slide at all. I thought I’d have to add the tape to keep them down but it wasn’t necessary. I have a 145 pound dog that basically crawls up the stairs and even she doesn’t move them. They have enough tuff that they collect hair and material and are pretty easy to clean. I use the brush that came with them to clean them off then vacuum up the lint/hair off the stairs. I am very pleased with this purchase. I didn’t really notice a chemical smell when they arrived. I would recommend setting them out flat for a day or two before installing as they arrive folded but not creased. I put them down straightaway and they settled fairly quick but I think laying them out flat for a day or two would have made a difference.

We needed treads for our older dog to get up and down our wooden stairs. We wanted ones that look good, don't require an adhesive to stay in place, don't move around with use, and don't damage our stairs. So far, so good. They look better than I'd expected and stay in place pretty well without using the double-sided tape that came with them. They're not easy to clean, at least for pet hair, but that's OK. No damage to the stairs so far but I'd like to see if that's still true in six months - if so, I'll bump this up to 4 stars.But one big star off for not having individual treads available. Each $60 pack comes with 13 treads so we had to buy $120 (!) worth for our 16 stairs. Their customer service people have been promising in the Q&A section here that the individual treads will be back in stock "in about a month" - for well over a year. It's not like it's a completely different product - just different packaging. One star off for prioritizing profit over customer service.

These stair treads might be good outdoors or going down to a basement room. They are made of indoor/outdoor carpet with firm rubber backing and ripple fabric on the top. I didn't like them at all as they have no style. Still the price is good. And they appear to be rugged. I did wash one of these and it washed okay.
