One of my favorite books
A super interesting read if you’re into reading about fantasy/animals/magical prophecies. I read this many years ago as a young adult and now that I’m older I find myself remembering how much I love David Clement-Davies’ books. I highly recommend this read. Also, his books The Sight and Fell are equally great to read. This book came with a bent corner in the back as it’s a paperback and whoever placed it in the bag folded one of the corners over when they did so. No biggie. Other than that the book is in great condition.

Worth the Read.
Extremely unique and creative. Something I always respect about Clement-Davies is no matter how outlandish or silly his subject matter is, he still takes care to put so much attention and detail into the environment. I didn't think I'd praise a book about a messiah-deer for having interesting political issues! As it is, though. I think his skills might have worked against him. He spent so much time explaining terms, classes, political groups, laws, and social issues, that he didn't spend a lot of time making the plot just as nuanced. It was definitely more of a world-building book than a plot or character-charged one.Definitely don't regret it though. It was still very interesting and I enjoyed the experience immensely.

Great book.
This has been one of my favorite books since I was in middle school. It's well written, gives an interesting perspective of early history of Scottish/etc lands, and is an interesting read. I try and make it a point to read every winter. There is quite a bit of violence or semi-scary/scary parts (it's a lot like Watership Down--covers the same topic: communism, etc). But that's to be expected. There's no real sexual content, as they are deer and yes they talk about getting a mate but it never goes further than, "Sggor's (or however you spell it) offspring were usuallly unhealthy," etc. It's narrated by someone other than Ranoch or anyone. I think it is sort of narrated by Blindweed or Herne.Spiritual content: has to do a lot with Druids (though they are portrayed as bad guys), and it has magical themes in it.

Awesome storyline, gripping till the very end
I first read this book as a kid at my local library. The description intrigued me as I love animals and fantasy style books. I couldn't put it down and was sad when I finished it. In the coming years i reread it several times. Now as an adult I was reminded of this book and went looking in the app store. I was delighted when I found it. It is very informative about deer and the fiction aspect made it all the more enjoyable. The author is very detailed in his writing and knows how to keep the readers attention. I will gladly share this book when I have children, when they are older of course. With there being violence in some parts I would not recommend this to children. Young adults and adults who love fiction, action, and a good story line I would highly recommend. Happy reading.

Interesting reading
I was looking for something in the lines of Watership Down and someone recommeded this book. It was an interesting book blending fiction and fact about herds of deer, all coming under the twisted rule of a cruel dictator called Sgorr. A deer with a special mark is born, leading many to wonder if he isn't the one foretold by a prophecy regarding a stag who would free the herds from the evil domain that is spreading through the land. I found myself wanting to read more, wondering what would happen next, although I wouldn't exactly call it suspenseful. If you have read Watership Down you'll find that in the end you've become rather fond of the characters. This didn't happen with Fire Bringer though. Had some creepy references to human sacrifice and pagan rituals, but in general was an interesting book. I must warn about the typeface used in the paperback edition: it is quite small and I resorted to using a magnifying glass to read the book, but oh well...

A Can't Miss Fantasy For Everyone
Fire Bringer is a rousing anthropomorphic fantasy that is sure to appeal to readers of all ages. It has all of the elements of a standard fantasy story (a prophesy to be fulfilled, a villain with a secret past, a hero that ignores his destiny and then embraces it). However, instead of being formulaic, Clement-Davies uses these elements to build strong characters, powerful action sequences, and evocative settings that will linger with the reader. The vigorous writing makes it easy for readers to imagine themselves in the world that the author has created. This book would make a wonderful introduction to the fantasy field for a first-time reader of the genre. However, even long-time fantasy readers will find enjoyment reading this auspicious debut from Clement-Davies.

A Favorite
Read this book for the first time in middle school and loved it. Was reminded of it and bought it, a little nervous that time and age would make me find it not as enjoyable as before and kind of ruin it for me, but it did not. Would recommend to fantasy and animal story lovers.

My favourite author
First read The Sight as a young teenager - well over a decade later, it's still stuck with me in a way that no other book has. Thoroughly recommend, my favourite author by a long shot.

Fire Bringer
Brilliant book. (: David Clement-Davies is a brilliant author. I would definitely recommend his books. Fire bringer is set perfectly, in the eyes of a stag, and I absolutely adore this sort of story, with the point of view being in the animals eyes. (:
