MTN Forged Knives Recon, 440C Steel, Double Action (OTF/Black/Drop)

I now have 4 of these knives (two 440c, and two S35VN blades), and these are by far the best OTF for the money that I have bought. And I've owned/used/collected Microtechs for over 15 years, so I'm very familiar with the top-tier OTF knives and brands. I carry the MTN 440c Blackout Tanto everyday, because it works, it's comfortable in my pocket, it's reliable, holds a razor-sharp edge for an acceptable amount of time, and is less expensive to replace in the event of loss, theft, or irreparable damage, than my other knives are. And when they ran the 440c knives for $69.99, I figured I'd buy a backup for my EDC, while it was on sale.I hope to see this company grow, and produce more cool knives and blade style offerings in the future. I would love to see a Blackout smooth-side (no ridges) Combat Troodon clone, with a thick heavy S35VN cleaver-style blade (like the Gerber Flatiron design) in one of these MTN Recon knives. I really enjoy the added blade weight of a thick heavy cleaver blade in a pocket knife for everyday use at work.

This is one cool knife. I like it! The action is fast! But not so fast or powerful where you can 'stab' into paper when it opens, the blade disengages (between that & the stiff 'trigger, you won't skewer your balls by accident).I would like to make a few suggestions for improvement. The action is LOUD, some rubber bumpers inside for open & close would be nice. The shape is good, a little more ergonomics would be nice, that could be more in surface features such as rubberized gripping being added. The Al frame is cool, actually down right freezing if the knife is exposed to cold and this also created condensations which made it slippery - some RENFREW hockey tape should fix that.

These are the best OTF knives I’ve ever bought and I do have microtech OTF knives and I think MTN forged knives are better .

 This is a solid knife all around, well built and razor sharp and the double action is quick and strong. The box it comes in has a nice mtn mini drawstring pouch for your knife. You also get a mini mag light and a maintenance tool for your knife. All in all I'm very pleased with my knife and the little bonus mag, tool, and bag. GREAT JOB MTN FORGED!👍

This knife is really nice. Works perfectly, I am very impressed, I have been a Benchmade, and CRKT, Old Timer, gerber guy for years. This knife has a very good fit and finish. Price point is a awesome bargon for what was received. I also received a triple a flashlight with it in the box. I was suprised but delighted ay the same time. I do not have a reason to complain about this product. It was like Christmas to me all smiles. Very statisfied with 440c Recon.

MTN forged put the handles on I wanted got it to me quickly. Very well made tool. Can't beat it for the cost point. You guys are amazing.

This is an amazing knife with a very satisfying action and a solid lock up don’t miss out get one best OTF I’ve ever had and believe me I’ve had them allIt feels like love 😍
