****Update**** Fits our Great Danes, but . . .
I had no experience with bark collars, but we felt we needed to do something to preserve the peace for our neighbors. This collar was described as fitting "large breeds", but there was no description of the collar size. This concerned me when placing my order - since I have two very large Great Danes, I was worried the bark collar would not fit. I gambled anyway, because I trust Amazon should I need to make a return. Good news! The collar fit our 140 lbs., 3 year old Great Dane with room to spare. It also fit our 100 lbs., 7 month old Great Dane with plenty of rooom to grow. Even better news! The collars work for both dogs. I've set the dial on 2-1/2 out of 10 and that seems to be effective. It has only been three days, but the dogs seem much quieter and seem to have adjusted just fine. They have learned to control their impulse to bark and seem calmer. We only use the collars when we are away from home at work and remove them as soon as we get home. I'm not sure I'd want to use them for extended period of time.*****UPDATE***** We've used the bark collars for several months now. Overall, they still work with moderate effect. We have had to increase the dial setting to the range of 4 to 5 to maintain effect. We've also found it is important to place the collars on snuggly and high on the neck to have the most effect. HOWEVER, our younger great dane has learned how to quickly REMOVE the collar from his kennel mate. Then the collar can be chewed on. If only our other dog would recipricate for the enterprising younger guy. At this point, we have replaced the collar strap once, but the collar is still removed easily by the younger, more energetic dog. (Dogtra does have readily available parts on their website.) We are currently trying to figure out an easy way to secure the strap while making it easy for humans to remove.

Amazing Results! But....
Purchased this collar as a last ditch effort when facing eviction or "get rid of the damn dog!"... I was nervous at first because the first couple settings didn't work (he's a beast!!) but now we've managed to find one that works on my high drive, high energy GSD, who even after 2 hours of exercise per day AND schutzund class 3 days a week was STILL barking at the neighbors. It absolutely saved us and nothing else had worked previously, citronella collars, countless other pet store brand bark collars, behavioral therapy, positive reinforcement, etc etc.Gave it four stars only because at just after 30 days (go figure) of using it, the collar malfunctioned and wouldn't hold a full battery charge and smarty pants realized that after a while it would die and he could "talk" to the neighbors. It seemed that I had gotten a lemon, but considering it worked when absolutely nothing else would, that's even ok! Dogtra has been great and offered to fix or replace it for me, so I'm ordering a second to use in the meantime and have as backup.Highly recommend for anyone with a stubborn or high energy dog. For those who are concerned, he doesn't wear it when we are at home and will alert us (with a proper, healthy bark) if a stranger enters the yard.Few tips: Take the time to use it and learn what works for your dog - it make be a bit of trial and error but with patience I'm confident it will work out! All it takes is reading the instructions and knowing your pup. Please don't leave it on your dog 24-7, it doesn't replace time spent exercising or just hanging out with your dog, and might irritate their neck! Last, make sure it is tight enough that the prongs make contact, for dogs who have such thick coats (like GSD's, Husky's etc), if it isn't working, it may not be tight enough.Good luck! (and thanks again Dogtra people!)Cosmos and Mommy

It just works. And works, and works.
Easy to use. With our dogs the setting always stays where you set it. The stimulation is effective through heavy coats. Easy to adjust it for different sensitivities for different dogs. Shuts itself down when the dog barks through the stimulation. Has worked great for training multiple dogs not to alert on every little item. We have never had the collars go off when the dogs are playing, or when some other dog barks, or when the dogs are scratching themselves.Absolutely reliable. We have bought several over the years, and these are rock solid. We have never had one wear out. "Friends" have borrowed them on occasion and liked the collars so much that they kept them...

NOT for us!
Didn't like it, sending back. Ordering one with a remote, that I can control myself.Scratch pad didn't fit, therefore very difficult to test. I put it on properly and she didn't respond (and I know she is sensitive to these signals as we had other collar before). So, no response, can't test properly = useless for us.Another thing, if this is to be the only collar on and we are to fit it snugly in order to work, but Dog is on a line (as mine is)... then the collar prongs would be scratching back and forth over her neck... not a good plan! This may work for some situations but certainly not for ours.
