It's Okay
This book is an okay book for someone just starting out with having a horse. It shows good pictures, but I would have liked to see more pictures because I am more of a visual learner than just a text learner. It has some good points with it, though. I like how it has a section on just the horse, granted it wasn't very long or descriptive, but it told of the basic information of the horse. I do like the pictures in it though, when it did have pictures. It was more of a textbook type writing than anything. It was informative, but it wasn't entertaining and it was more boring to read because of the textbookness of it. Overall, if this book was used as an introduction it's pretty good. And if a professor would use it for an intro class, than it would be pretty good. I give it 3 stars.

This was a great book especially for beginner horse owners. The book would also be good as a textbook in an intro class.I give the book four stars. The two things I did not like about the book was that it should have had more pictures, especially if it is for beginners, and it was more like a textbook format. Overall, I liked the book and would recommend it to teachers and anyone else who is thinking about buying a horse in the future. I bought the book for one of my horse classes and I am also keeping it for my ranch in the future.

Brilliant book for getting through BHS exams
I've used this as my main source of learning for my BHS stage exams, passing my 1,2 and 3 first time mainly self studying. For stages one and two I only had a couple of stable management sessions with my instructor and worked through the syllabus with this book, for my stage three I'd been working as a groom so had more hands on experience but needed to learn the theory, especially about fitness, feeding and anatomy. It has a decent level of detail whilst still being easy to read. There's no need for expensive prep courses if you have access to a horse and can work through this book, maybe booking the odd hands on lesson for stuff like bandaging. Now I'm working towards my stage 4 it is more limited in use and books dedicated to a specific area are needed but I'd say it is a good general horse care book and has been worth its weight in gold.

Brilliant book for getting my knowledge up to scratch but there is a good smattering of spelling mistakes throughout.
