Perfect fit for Boy Scout book
Fit boys scout book perfect and has extra pockets for things. Compass it comes with is worthless though since it points random directions instead of north.

Room for everything
My husband has a Quad LDS bible it is like 2 1/2 inches thick. He also has bookmarks in it. This case fit it all! It has a carry handle and the pockets are great. The only disappointment was the pocket shown under the flap with a phone in it. That phone is sticking out cause that is all the further the phone will go down it is a very small pocket and your phone would fall out. My husband also wishes there were sleeves on the inside where you could tuck the front and back cover in to keep the book in place.

Not even close
First off I measured my sons Bible to make sure this would fit. Per the measurements I had over an inch of room to spare in length. I get the cover today and it’s not only to small but not finished.I have never seen a square Bible and that’s what this is shaped and measured for. Then if you look at the inside it’s missing the flaps to slide the covers in to keep it in place and on.Material looks nice and good quality it just doesn’t match the discription.

It fits!
I ordered this for my Cub Scout son because the Webelos book is bigger than other books. It didn't fit in his other book cover that he'd used since he was in Kindergarten so I had to find a cover that was bigger and would close all the way with the bigger book inside. I let my son look through the different book covers and he chose this one. It looks great in the pictures and I was sure we'd be happy with it. So the good and the bad of it as follows:Pros1. The Webelos book does indeed fit in this cover. And it fits with room to spare so you can easily zip closed the cover without worrying about the zipper catching the book and ripping it.2. It's got the cute compass that attaches right to the book cover. My son loved it. Haven't tried it out yet so I guess as long as it points North, it'll be good.3. It's got a lot of small pockets that my son can use to put his treasures and findings when out on Scout adventures.Cons1. There's no pockets for the book. The book just basically sits in the cover. His old one had pockets on each side that you could put the front and back cover in to hold the book in place. This cover doesn't offer that so the book just sits in the cover. It'll be fine if it's on a table but I can already see the book falling out of the cover when we're on the move. I wish this cover offered a way to hold the book in place.2. None of the pockets are big enough for pencils and pens. Why have pockets and none of them can fit pens and pencils inside? We put some of our smaller pens and pencils along with a couple highlighters in the inside zipper pocket but we had to put them in sideways. The pockets are all too small to hold pens and pencils well and had I known we probably would have chosen a different cover. In the grand scheme of things, it's a small issue but it's kind of annoying. We made it work but I would have liked to see a regular size pocket just for pens and pencils on the inside or front that zips closed. All in all, it's a decent cover for a Scout book. It'll help protect his book and it'll be easy for my son to carry and find. And he loves it intensely right now so it was more than worth the money I spent on it. Eventually we may upgrade to one with a pencil/pen pocket but for now, this will do the job and seems to be well made so hopefully it will last him for the next couple of years.

OK for BSA Handbook
Bought this for my son to use for his BSA handbook as we thought it might give a bit more room than the one BSA sells. It's slightly smaller, so the book is crammed in there. There's no flap to hold the back of the book in place, so he has to take it out to use it. Also, no attached bookmark like the BSA holder has. We do like the zippered pocket inside to put his Totin and Fire Chit cards. Overall, mostly ok for our use, my son loves the camo color, but it needs to be just slightly longer to fit the handbook better (I realize this was not the intended use).

More of a book bag, not a book cover
To me, a book cover means that the front and back cover of a book can slip into an opening of a book cover to keep it protected. This does not have any slits for the book cover, thus it should be considered a book bag that will hold you book, but cannot be kept around the book when you want to use the book.

Overall Pretty Great
Only thing that I wish it had that it doesn't is a strap or something to hold the Boy Scout handbook inside. Otherwise, it is great. Plenty of room to add more items inside, has a lot of neat little pockets for him to put his merit badges and cards in and as an added bonus....it came with a compass.

No pen or pencil holder
“Sturdiness, giftable, and durability” all get 4 stars. The item is clearly as described and decent, nothing above. But why would you need anything more for what this is? The only thing I wish it had is a specific place to put a pen or pencil. It has to go inside the zipper area with the book.
