Almost perfect
We bought this to add some extra storage in our old land cruiser. The install was easy once we figured out the right location to mount it. I have one complaint about the product. You cannot latch the lid without using the key. I am sure this is for security but it would be nice to close it securely without having to dig out a key. We love it other than that.

Minor flaws, but good for the price.
First the bad: (1) the opening is much smaller than the lid, and so the box is great for carrying many small items but not for larger ones. (2) unlike the illustrations in the manual, the rod that acts as a hinge can only be inserted from one end. Discovering this after installation of the box means that it must be removed, the lid attached, and the box re-installed.Now the good: it was easy to install, and is very adaptable to different types of vehicle. It seems Ideal for carrying jumper cables, reflective triangles or flares, etc.

Good fit
Definitely designed for a PU with a deeper bed wall. Other than that it fits nice and snug right how I wanted it too. I like the design for water to drain off the lid, small things you don't usually think about when purchasing a truck box with pockets on top. It fits all my tow/winch accesories, ropes, links, tiedowns, emergency roadside kit, etc. Seems very durable so far, even held up against a stack of tree rounds. Would buy again if/when this one breaks. Installs easier/faster with two people, but still simple enough to install by yourself.

Floppy lid
Somewhat disappointing as the box is made of thin polyethylene. It is supposed to be weather resistant, but the floppy, loose lid when latched doesn't engage the weatherstripping. There is about a half inch of slop in the fit of the lid on both the latch side and the hinge side. Very poor value for the money. I have modified this one by adding an aluminum bar for the latch to engage which makes the latch side snug. But the hinge side is still sloppy. I will add some additional weatherstripping and add two more exterior latches to secure the top. Don't use this box for valuables!! A thief could open it in 5 seconds with a box cutter.

Installation on shortbed with ikea instructions
Its good, like other person says, it fits tow straps and other odds and ends. This appeared to be a refurbished or returned item though, some of the instructions where missing, a few pieces of hardware also and the insulation was already applied (owner manual stated how insulation should be applied). Its a little bulkier then expected and does seem slightly cheap when holding it. Installation was confusing, the instructions where similar to the kind you get at an IKEA. I recommend reviewing the online instructions and video provided by the website, other then that its pretty easy. This will not fit flush if you have a raised bed liner. I had to drill new holes in the mounting bracket to get the unit to even fit in the truck. The lock can be tough, you need to apply downward pressure when using it the first time because of the seal, but it works. This does exactly what I purchased it for and it is a cheap alternative to a full bed toolbox so I give it a 4.

Is it worth the trouble?
It works fine, but it too narrow. My tool bag, with its contents, won't fit inside, or past the opening.

Full sheet of plywood will still fit
The box removes 1 inch from the Wheel to wheel distance. Mine was just over 49" now it is 48". So a full 4x8 sheet of plywood will still fit. The lid hinge is kind of flimsy. It has a lock on the lid but it's for honest people. A meth head would have it open in 30 seconds, and destroy the lid. Probably should have shelled out the exact cash for a metal one. I could not mount mine according to the instructions Had to use the right bracket on left side and vice versa. The brackets are bent at 90 degrees but you really need 87 degrees. Had to bend them with burt force, as I don't have a vise.Overall happy with the purchase.

Very cheap product
This tool box is very cheaply built. I bought it for items that were not very expensive. It barely locks and is very easy to open while locked. Not worth the price.
