Great for my home Décor
My house is decorated in a history theme and this looks great with some of the other items on have.

Good quality and more realistic compared to others
Using just as decor on my nightstand to throw random things in. Love the “old time leather look.”However, the painted on border edging on the face of the book rubbed off a smidge towards the bottom mid-right. Not a huge deal for me though because I was trying to go for the old/faded look. Like the velvet interior as well. Good quality and looks more realistic compared to ones I’ve seen at stores like Walmart, Ross, and Marshall’s.

Very nice, but more decorative than discreet
Hidden book boxes are very popular right now even just as decoration and this one, I feel, is definitely towards that end of the spectrum. The quality of the material is very good and it has a very classy element to it.That being said, if you are looking for a book box in which to actually hide something then please note that this is one of the first books people examine when looking at my book shelf. A more practical and less noticeable alternative may be what you're looking for.

Like it however the box is smaller than advertised.
It would be easy to assume this is an old book that is just lying around. The advertisement lists 'Book box measures 6" x 8.25" x 2"', however all the dimensions are the outside dimensions and "Book box" means the inside dimensions per industry standard. For us it fit the bill, meaning we were lucky that what we intended to put in it fit, so we kept it. I'd give it 5 stars IF the dimensions were nominally right - they aren't. UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE I noticed they now show the outside dimensions using a tape measure and seem to ignore the book box standard which does not give you the inside dimensions which are 4-3/4" x 6-14/16" x 1-15/16". So if you care what will fit inside their tape measure photos will only show you the exterior dimensions. Use the inside dimensions to determine if it is big enough for your use.

Worth it.
This is my temporary depository for my firearm when I am at my desk. It is very good quality and truly looks like a book. I have a couple of other similar boxes on my credenza. Since my office has a nautical theme, this fits right in. It is attractive and well constructed.
