Overpriced China made schlock at 3-figure prices that works OK
Light fixtures are one of those required necessities where these days you pay high prices for very little. This lamp is a case in point. Costing over a hundred dollars you get a average looking fixture, with poor build quality, that ultimately does its job just OK.A few points:- The fixture is made of painted sheet steel. The half-circle bars that hold the frosted glass in place are not welded to the backing plate, but instead attached with screws and then silicon has been used to seal the gaps to prevent rattling and moisture from getting into the bars which are cheap and hollow. The silicon leaks through the cracks during the process, and this makes for a visibly sloppy look as you can well imagine. I guess Great Outdoors thought they'd leave the cleanup job to the customer.- The half cylinder frosted glass does not firmly attach within the fixture and thus light leaks from the edges where it doesn't meet flush with the backing plate. I'd say to the tune of an eight of an inch. The glass is attached at bottom with a thin mounting plate, and you can definitely wiggle the glass around in the fixture. With the way this is designed there is no way to tighten this up.- As another reader mentioned, the bottom is open so bugs, arachnoids, small birds, whatever can move in and find shelter. On the upside, since it is open, when they fry and die gravity will clean them out for you. Having an open bottom means light, not perverted by frosted glass, shines downward which can also be useful.- The maximum bulb wattage is rated to 60-watt, which is adequate. The fixture is placed near the middle-top of the fixture, so you will definitely not have even light across the entirety of the fixture, there is a distinct shadow on the upper 1/3 of the fixture. Having said that, it doesn't bother me too much.- This fixture uses the good old fashioned Edison screw socket, which makes it easy to use any bulb you want, be it incandescent, fluorescent, halogen or LED. No proprietary standards, fixed LED's, or expensive, rarely used connectors here. I appreciate that.- I found it humorous that Great Outdoors puts a little sticker on the frosted glass identifying it as handmade and as such visible imperfections may exist. This gives the impression some artisan was busy frosting the glass by hand. If by handmade they mean overseeing the automated machine that does the work, then I guess it's a true statement. I imagine this sticker was placed there to cover their butt, allowing them to refuse warranty returns due to glass imperfections. All in all I may seem negative about this light, but it does its job and I used them to replace all the exterior lights at the doors of my apartment complex. I imagine they'll last a decade or less before they rust out or someone drops the glass during a bulb change. In 21st century America good quality and affordability are mostly things of the past, so you just have to roll with the punches and get used to mediocre high-priced crap, like this light fixture.

Love the lights, but not all were exactly the same.
I purchased 7 of these and love the way they look. They were installed at the front and back of my house as part of a remodel. So far 5 of the 7 have been completely wired and they work fine. Two are still awaiting the final wiring by the electrician. There were a few odd things that didn't end up being a problem for me, but might have the potential to be a problem for someone else. 1) There were 2 different installation brackets. Three lights had one type and four lights had a different type. Each required a different size opening to be drilled out of the exterior. Fortunately the electrician noticed this before starting to install them. 2) 6 of the lights operate by a regular on/off switch while 1 light fixture operates by light sensor. Again this didn't cause any real problem as I was replacing one fixture that worked on a light sensor. I was going to change it to a regular on/off operation, but am satisfied to leave it as a sensor light. If you plan to buy more than one of these just make sure to check them carefully before installing them.

Solid fixture with an attractive look
These look nice as outside lights on either side of the front door and by the back sliding doors to the deck and two more doors in back. We have a total of six of them. The diffuser is glass and the frame is metal giving them a solid enough feel. The top is solid and the bottom is open so you get a nice down light effect. The glass diffuses the light of the 13w CFL bulb pretty much the way the photo looks but with a little more whiter light. The 60w equivalent amount of light does not light up much area but it's not blinding to be right next to. We have other lights so this worked out well for us.

I love the way it looks
I love the way it looks; way less ornate than those lantern style lights. My only complaint is that it's a tad tricky to change the bulbs, but with CFLs in there that shouldn't be a problem for a long time. I use two 60 watt equiv CFLs and they work fine.

Well made, elegant.
My wife and I looked at many fixtures before choosing this one. It's well made, easy to install and has two bulbs, which we wanted as we use it to light our front portico and so it provides lots of light. We're very pleased.

Very well-made outdoor light
We wanted something that would work with our lightly-modernized 1950's mid-century modern house. This light fit the bill. It's an excellent outdoor fixture houses two bulbs for additional light. Very well made. Our covered patio has never looked prettier!

Well made light
The only drawback is that, with the two bulb model, you can see the shadow of the bulb holders near to the glass, which detracts a little from the look when lit.The smaller one-light model does not suffer from this

Did not rust after a year near South FL beach.
After a year of a "test by Florida" it is as good as new.We are just 3 blocks away from the ocean here in south Florida.I was a bit concerned that the salt in the air, constant UV exposure, the heat, and the humidity will make it look bad or even damage. So far, it looks and functions like new.I would recommend it to others.
