I put one on each corner of my stake bed utility trailer and they work great. Several friends wanted to know where I got them.

The only thing that bothers me about the upper lock is that the handle could accidentally come open. I’m not saying that it has happened but I see the potential of hitting a bump in the road or going over a bad railroad track and they bounce open and come unlocked. The arm is just hanging there with nothing holding it down. I’m working on a way to add a security measure so they won’t pop open. I gave it four stars for that reason. Otherwise a great product. Very heavy duty metal. Easy to install. I did use 3/8”x1 1/4 “ lag screws to install mine as the bolts that came with it would not work for my application.

These are heavy enough for my hf trailer. Very pleased!

After I received this I read reviews and now see that in the past this was only two total sets. For me, when I 1st read "four pieces," I totally believed it was saying four pieces of metal made the one set, which is how many metal items there are to make up a set. AND I thought $23 was too high for something I can easily create (easy for me.) BUT I got too busy with other tasks and ordered it. Now I believe $23 is CHEAP for four sets. I previously had a large barrel bolt latch on a shed, but winds could push the door enough for the double doors to simply pull the bolt through. I liked this for the simple design that truly hooks the doors together. These are heavy, sturdy metal--thicker than I would've used if I'd made them.

I have a 4x8 trailer that I wanted to secure the back drop gate to the sides. For home trailer use, this might be a tad of an overkill but it will outlast a couple of trailers! It does not come with bolts and nuts, which makes sense, as everybodys' trailer walls are different. I discovered that the bolts & other attaching hardware cost more than the two latches, assuming you get locking nuts or lock washers, flat washers, and the bolts. These latches are beyond top quality for home use, and I suspect commercial use too. The price is well within my budget.

This hardware is sturdy. I installed on the front and end gates of a utility trailer that I built on a trailer frame kit. A template would have been helpful, as you had to figure out how the latch and keeper engaged. Importantly, the ad description failed to mention that these can be installed handed left or right. So that's a plus. An improvement could be to review design so that mounting bolts on latch and keeper better avoid interfering with each other on the inside of the trailer. Note that you'll need to buy your own mounting bolts and they add up at most retail stores. Overall very good value.
