Servamp Vol. 1

A cool manga for those who aren't big fans of vampires
Having been introduced to this series by my friend thanks to the anime I was curious and a little nervous due to me not really being a fan of vampires but ended up enjoying the series so I ended up deciding to check out the manga and so far so good (it also differs like most series from the anime). As for the story it follows Mahiru your average everyday teenager who ultimately has his life turned upside down after rescuing a a small and cute black cat whom he names 'kuro' however things aren't as they seem as it turns out kuro is a vampire (who isn't exactly social or an outdoorsy type who is more then happy to be lazy and nibble on chips) and is stuck with kuro and all this plunges Mahiru into a strange world with many unusual chracters and vicious battles. Over all it's standard shonen fair but still enjoyable if you're looking for something fun and full of fight scenes , vampires who turn into cute animals and goofy humor this is for you.

Excellent Start From Strike Tanaka
Servamp is an excellent start to a new gem of a manga. I have hopes that it will follow the Devil's and Realist route and get animated soon, it already got a drama CD and gets tons of color pages in the JPN manga. In any case, Im glad to finally be able to read this and own it. The vampire servant story is pretty funny. Kuro, the cover character is hilarious and lazy though comes through when the time is right. His partner, Mahiru is pretty funny too with his simple get it done attitude. They have a nice interaction going on. The rest of the cast comes together nicely. There is the typical busty female though that this series like to throw in though I guess writers dont want to have an all male thing going on.In any case, the quality of the book is great, no typos, great artwork with lots of sound effects translated or redrawn (not all). The extras only include a color insert which is nice to see how Mahiru is supposed to look and a few others. I wish there was an afterword or more. There are those four panel comedy stripes too.

Review for Servamp Vol 1
To be honest I had to read this twice. I gave only 4 stars because I was kind of confused and it seemed a little rushed. But nonetheless I loved this book and ordered the next one!Mahiru's runs across a stray cat that everyone's passing up, not caring. Next thing he knows this cat, Kuro as he named him, is a vampire. A lazy vampire, but still a vampire! Oh but here's the twist on these vampires, they're servants. If they drink the blood of someone then boom that's their master. So Mahiru's not to tempt Kuro for 24 hours, for he may have made a temporary contract with Kuro. But as most things go in the 24 hours something happens which causes Kuro and Mahiru to form a contract with blood.Mahiru's launched into a world of servamps, masters, and more. A bored villain decides to create some amusement for himself he's going to start a war. Killing vampires and humans, it doesn't matter to him.The servamps are labeled as the seven sins, Kuro just happens to be the sloth sin. To Mahiru's disappointment that means Kuro's lazy and just wants to remain at home. The two are total opposites which makes for an interesting contract.Mahiru's simple, simples what he likes and prefers, life just got complicated, add in a lazy vampire and another who's the sin of Melancholy. This villain merely wishes to have something that doesn't depress him and a war is the solution.Mahiru's on a high horse riding into battle while Kuro's whining to stay home. I'm excited for the next book! Even though it seemed a little rushed I did enjoy it and rereading some parts. I want to see where these two are going to end up, not to mention a cliffhanger at the end of the book. Some language and there are some scenes with a little extra skin. No clear genitalia, but some cleavage and a shot of a guy's vertical smile.

It includes details that the anime didn't mention giving a better understanding of the characters
The first volume and the rest of the series is worth the buy. It includes details that the anime didn't mention giving a better understanding of the characters. It's a great series, I love it.

Great entertainment
This is a really good entertaining book, seeing two totally different people come to understanding how to work together and try and defeat an enemy. loving this book and series so far. When I ordered it it came in great condition, no scratches, dents or bent pages and i'm a huge stickler for trying to make sure my book are fine and in good conditions when i get them and that the stay that way.:)

Manga with Stylish Artwork Needs Better Storytelling
An ordinary fifteen-year-old high school boy Shirota Mahiru gets embroiled in a war between vampires when he picks up a stray cat named Kuro (meaning “black” in Japanese). Kuro is in fact a servamp or servant vampire, who turns into human form when not exposed to sunlight. The fantasy manga is stylishly drawn and fast-paced, with some fierce combat scenes and offbeat humor. The contrast between the earnest hero and lazy Kuro is also amusing to see. These positives are, however, outweighed by the confusing storytelling and too many characters (mostly male and good-looking), few of whom make a strong impression on the reader.Created by Tanaka Strike (yes, this is the manga creator’s penname), “Servamp” has been serialized in Media Factory’s magazine “Monthly Comic Gene” since 2011. Seven tankoubon volumes have been published so far.I hope things get better in the next issue. Until then, three stars.
