HT Restore Your Chevy Truck 1947-1955

Liked the book overall .

I was hoping that this would be a book of the how-to variety, but instead it is more of a diary of a particular truck restoration. It is loaded with pictures of his build, but I would trade all the pretty, a pictures for diagrams that illustrate part locations, challenges, etc. I have restored other cars (1971 Landcruiser FJ40, 1968 Jaguar Type E, 1964, 1970 Dodge Challenger), and the multiple restoration books available for each are incredibly helpful and detailed compared to this one.I don't really need an entire chapter on painting, as there are at least 100 books on Amazon dedicated to the details of auto painting, as well as many informative websites. The author also has a lot of expensive, dedicated shop tools that most of us will never own, so I prefer books that utilize more typical tools that home mechanics have.In summary, it's a nicely illustrated story about a truck restoration, but I didn't find a single bit of information that helped me on my own restoration.

This book is great for any old 1950 Chevy truck owners who are restoring these trucks!!

Anyone considering the restoration or even refurb of a post war Chevy pickup will benefit immensely from the material presented in this well organized, easy to follow manual. In essence the reader follows along as the author undertakes a frame up restoration of the truck profiled on the book's cover. Along the way plans for building a number of stands, carts, and so forth useful in the process are offered for consideration. Plenty of photos accompany easy to follow plans. The author pulls no punches admitting the task is not easy, that it requires time, money, and patience. If you want expert help with your project this is one dependable resource.
