Stick with it and be rewarded
Like many I was hopeful due to Respawn but wary due to EA's involvement.Initial impressions were;-Poor graphics on One X - foggy/smudged on high quality mode-Annoying/unbelievable side character who's frequented other games. Sense inclusion is for politics.-Game mechanics not seen in other games. Respawn continues to come up with new ideas.-Shoddy jumping, climbing, sliding- frequently miss.Element of Bloodbourne. Need repetition and perfect fights to get to next save point = very frustratingAs the game progresses, despite there being too many puzzles and an element of being lost early on, this game progresses with amazing moments. By the time you've leveled up a little, the characters development really comes on, there are fantastic flashback moments using music from the films and pure fan service regarding the lightsaber and placement of enemies for you to just wade through!Aside from the 2nd planet, the return to the other planets isn't annoying at all. The game finishes with a fantastic ending!Overall a must play, possibly the best star wars experience since Kotor/Battlefront 2 (2005) and game of the year contender.

Good, but not all I'd hoped for.
I asked for this for Christmas back in 2019. I hadn't played a decent Star Wars game in a while and was looking for my Lightsabre and Force-Lighting fix. Did it deliver? Well, yes and no.The Star Wars games I particularly enjoyed were 'The Force Unleashed' and it's imaginatively titled sequel 'The Force Unleashed 2'. In hindsight, going from TFU to Fallen Order was a really terrible idea. At face value you'd think they were similar games. You play a Jedi type. you do lots of killing Stormtroopers with Lightsabres etc, etc... You get the idea?Anyway, the thing is 'Fallen Order' is nothing like 'The Force Unleashed' Now that might appeal to some people. What I'd say Fallen Order is more like is 'Dark Souls' with Lightsabres and lots of Parkour. The way you unlock areas on planets and have to re-do large portions frequently is quite reminiscent. As is the difficulty. I quite like a challenge, but I found Fallen Order often quite frustrating to play. I accept you're supposed to be playing a newbie Jedi who never got properly trained, but I swear, I've been killed by lone Scout Troopers, even alien Mountain Goats when really, you'd thing one good slash of your sabre should seal the deal.Combat is tough and rewards careful thought and an element of planning and care. What this ISN'T, is a button-masher - I accept that might appeal to some people. Although I DID find this game frustrating, I'm not really marking it down on difficulty, although that did make the game a bit of a grind at times. As it stands I've had this for nearly a year and not finished it. In the meantime I've 100%'d RE2 and RE3 Remakes and played a hell of a lot of other games. The draw to go back and finish this just hasn't been there. Why?Well, the combat, difficulty and the level exploration aren't things I'm fan of. I didn't like the layout of many of the planets I visited. It feels like the game is trying to give you this impression of a huge open world, when in fact the tasks and routes you take to achieve your goals often turn out to be very linear. The visuals are beautiful, stunning at times and the planets all have their own aesthetic. Dathomir I thought was particularly well-rendered. The voice acting is good and some of the characters you meet on your travels are very well written. Your mentor Cere is great, as is the main villainess of the series the Inquisitor known as the Second Sister. The story is strong and sort of makes sense at a level. The way you move from world to world, growing your powers and drawing closer to your goal, works. What really didn't work for me was your man Cal Kestis or whatever his name is. I find this when I'm playing a game with a strong narrative. The character I'm playing has a big impact on my enjoyment of the game. These days I mainly play games for the story and ANY story is dependent upon you liking the protagonist. The Witcher 3 was a fantastic game, and I really liked Geralt of Rivia, his were great shoes to step into. Playing Galen Merek in The Force Unleashed was a riot. I really enjoyed playing, Claire, Leon and Jill from the Resident Evil Remakes. I can't even put my finger on why I didn't like Cal either. It's not that he's a horrible person, I think it's more that he's just a bit boring. He lacks character. Maybe it's because I haven't progressed far enough in the game for his character to really come out. But if I've stopped playing and can't be bothered to finish it, then I see that as a character brought to shine too late. There's a lot to like in this game. The locations, though linear at times are at least interesting. The Skill tree appears well thought-out - though I never maxed it out. The cast of side characters and the plot all worked. I know lots of people loved this game and I think it won awards, but for me at least this didn't have the pull to get me to go back and finish it. Even after a year!I'm probably being unnecessarily harsh, you'll probably love it, but for some reason it wasn't all I'd hoped for.

Clunky
I’m only a few hours into this game. I’m not completely giving up on it, but it’s not really holding my interest. The controls are clunky, and it’s very off putting. It’s like there’s a lag from the controller to the Xbox. I even tried different controllers, just to be sure. The combat is ok - just ok. I wish they’d have taken a leaf from the Arkham series when it comes to fighting. I wish they’d have focused more on that than running in walls - which, gets old very quickly. It’s quite glitchy in places too.Story wise it’s very good. As a big Star Wars fan, I’m enjoying it. The game just needed to be better.

DO NOT BUY THIS GARBAGE!!
Would give this a 0 if was possible!Avoid at all costs, one of the worst star was games ever!!!!Your character is weak, even toward the endgame its still 3 or more lightsabre hits to end even the most basic of enemies, the enemies you face all have the ability to block your attack and go straight on the offensive unlike when you attempt to do same,You grind out the quests and get little or no emotion in the cut scene acting, the story line is one of a tomb raider game but a bad one at that, it feels like lara croft suddenly got a light sabre and thats it, your use of the force is very limited and the whole game just feels like a prince of persia/tomb raider/ assassins creed style but without any amazing story. Its an awful game with a star wars branding, EA have ruined star wars games, where is an independent Bioware or Obsidian Knights of the old republic 3?I would rather EA accept that they have ruined this and give the licence for star wars to a developer who will give us a game worth playing, £50 down the drain!PLEASE AVOID THIS AWFUL AWFUL GAME!!!!

Game of the Year
