Dorman604-224 HVAC Blend Door Actuator Compatible with Select Models

The media could not be loaded.  the original was broken. causing a ticking under the dashboard. it was also draining the battery because it was trying to reset itself even with the car off. Remove the 2 screws to pull out the broken one. found a match ordered it and the next day it came and installed it. problem fixed for less then 20 bucks. I will use this company again

Got this for my 2009 Ford Escape 4cyl/4WD. I looked up some videos on how to replace and it looked pretty simple. You have to be sure to get the right part number, depending on your vehicle model (dual climate control, etc.) this might not work. Mine doesn't have that and this part was an exact match/replacement. Normally you can tell if a replacement part is junk by the physical weight being much lighter but this Dorman model was the same.For my vehicle, the location is under the driver's side dash and I had to crawl in head-first to get it done. Took about 30 minutes due to murphy's law - the plastic tool they include ended up getting lost, but you can use a flat head screwdriver to move the vent door position so it aligns with the new part. I've been using it for a couple of weeks so far with no issues. Never had an issue with Dorman products in the past.

I decided to give it a try because of the price. Others have reviewed it doesn't last very long. I believe in finding out for myself if it's true or not. Will give further update on longevity.

Easy to install so far works well

Seemed to be good quality and easy (kind of) to install in my '11 Escape. As the mode door actuator (vent, floor, defrost positions) it is located above the throttle pedal on the side of the HVAC unit. Get into position with a 7mm socket and it comes right out (two screws). Line up the splines (I cheated and plugged it in, turned on the car and let it move into the vent position.) And then it drops into place.UPDATE: 10 months later, the unit again went into the tooth grinding mode when put into the vent position. Working with Dorman and Amazon for a replacement.

Other than this particular part being very difficult to replace, the part worked as soon as I installed it. It was the correct part, based on my model F150, and arrived as expected. It's been a few weeks now, and works perfectly.

I've had great results using other parts from the Dorman brand. This is one to avoid. Buy the Ford version instead. Maybe even take apart the new Ford part and add grease before you install it. The original Ford part worked for 10 years. This Dorman part work perfectly for 3 months--then it failed miserably.This is a very difficult part to replace on the passenger side of a 2009 Ford Escape Hybrid / Mercury Mariner Hybrid. This should have been designed to be a service replaceable part--10-15 minutes tops. The dash must come apart to get to this motor--I can't do this in 10-15 minutes. The original brakes lasted longer than this part. Shame on Ford.The problem is worse if you buy a cheap part to replace the original. Do yourself a favor and don't buy this Dorman part.

Aunque el modelo varia un poco en cuanto al original, quedo perfecto y funcional, yo tenia el problema que no sabia el aire para desempeñar el parabrisas, con el cambio de este actuador solucione el problema.

Llegó el actuador en su caja y con sus instrucciones. Lo instalaron y quedó funcionando correctamente, ahora ya no hace el sonido de trabarse los engranes internos y las funciones de desempañador ya lo hace correctamente así cómo los demás pasos de flujo de aire. De igual manera se revisó antes con un tutorial de YouTube sobre esa falla y con ello ya se solucionó el problema del actuador
