This is the third copy I have bought. I use this book so I do need to replace the copy after some years. First time I read this was in 1995.

I strongly recommend this book if you are wanting to learn more about the Orishas.

I came upon this book after an interest in French Spiritism (Espiritismo). It is not a very long book and the only illustrations are the awesome ones on the cover, but like any of Gonzalez-Wippler's books, it is a great reference book for both practitioners and academics. Gonzalez-Wippler seems to be the leading expert on Santeria, at least in the Americas, and despite her claims differently, I do suspect that after 20+ years of academic study and with her native background, she is herself a Santeras; that is, a high priestess of Santeria. The book basically explains the orishas, their connection to some of the Catholic Saints, and their different paths and initiations. Great book.

Gives really good information and stories about the main Orisha.

Oh my GOD, ITS SO INFORMATIVE. It only covers the main Orishas, however it's still very informative and as a beginner, I love it. This is a must buy for anyone wanting to learn, or dive into this religion.

Gives a decent amount of detail about the orishas and their attributes. Would recommend
