In brief: This mattress is good. I bought it because some people said it was too firm and I wanted FIRM. It is not super firm. In fact I could go one more step up in firmness, but this has helped my morning back pain a lot. Big improvement. :I have been suffering from morning back aches for years. We recently replaced our expensive ComfortAire mattress (too soft) with a Posturepedic (also not firm enough). So having bought a brand new Posturpedic that claimed to be medium firm, I was loathe to get yet another mattress for the 2nd bedroom, but had no choice. This Vergo 12" foam is medium firm, similar to what I've experienced in hotels. After installing the mattress I let it air out for two days with the window open before sleeping on it. The residual smell wasn't bad and after 2 weeks is completely gone. I do sink into it a bit because it's got a layer of memory foam, but it doesn't sag. 4 year Update: the bed is still going strong! My back feels wonderful and the shape still holds. I’ve since moved from my first apartment and bed frame, but it’s still just as comfortable as day one. It’s not a popular item here on Amazon but I find it to be one of the best purchases I’ve made.Saki Reviews here. I must say one thing. I LOVE THIS BED. I got into a car accident few years ago and that messed up my back. What that means is I get picky what I sleep on, because if I don't sleep on the right bed, I not only will be in pain, but won't be able to sleep at all. This bed is VERY firm and I love it. I sink into heaven when I sleep in it. The 12 inch is definitely worth buying.Shipping: When I got this bed, the box was about 5ft tall and about 2 ft wide. It was easy to lift up the stairs by myself. All you got to do is open the box, rip the cover a little bit to release the odor and there you go. Leave it for a few hours and it will be all good!Definitely will be buying another one soon for the other room.

I felt like this bed was medium to firm. Good comfort level. We opened the package and let it "air out" for about 3 days before using it. It was for an extra bedroom so we didn't really need it. We bought the platform also on Amazon. Our friends that stayed said it was some of the best nights sleep they had gotten in recent times...so I consider that a success. Bed seems as large as a regular spring coil queen.Smell was non-existent after 2 days. I'm not sensitive to smell so it was gone quickly.The worst experience is that the bed "moves" on the Sleep Master SmartBase Mattress frame we ordered. Once we put a bed skirt on, the bed slides pretty easily around on the frame. We are going to try a yoga mat to see if that helps prevent slippage.We would purchase again!

Normally I'm very picky about mattresses because I want to be extremely comfortable, I always purchase mattresses at a store so i can check out all the items and know exactly what I'm getting. I needed a mattress for a queen frame bed I bought and I knew I didn't want to spend close to 2,000. I decided to check out all of the comments from a whole lot of mattresses on here, plus thinking i would get comfort, I decided i would make a decision and try it out, this is for a guest bedroom! I ordered, prayed, when it arrived it was in a box stuffed inside, I thought oh boy i hope it is good! opened it, put it on the bed, even slept in it, I L O V E IT!!! honestly, I would buy this a hundred more times. its not gushy, its not hard, it will somewhat conform to you, but not very much which is good with me. IT IS VERY COMFORTABLE!! take my advice- you won't be disappointed. this is my opinion. I hope you agree, if you order this. Good Luck.

Bed lost its firmness slowly until after about six months, now it's soft and mushy. it had all five star ratings when I purchased it I wonder if everybody rated it in the first week.

We were introduced to this mattress at an Airbnb rental - my husband loved the comfort of the bed and we obtained the purchase information from the rental owner and ordered it from Amazon. The mattress arrived without the usual Amazon packing slip and return instructions. Could it be that it's impossible to return this item? Once released from the packing materials, the mattress expands to its full size and it would be impossible to compress it back...food for thought in case you're thinking of returning it. Perhaps that's why there was no packing slip and return instructions? Luckily, we are happy with the mattress! It's not as soft as the one we slept on at the Airbnb, and the reviews we read did indicate it was a firm mattress. But we bought a 2" memory gel "topper" at our local Tuesday Morning store and the result is perfect. We were worried about the off-gassing of the product but the smell dissipated within a couple of weeks. All in all, we are happy with this product.

Good mattress, pretty good value. Firmness is about right, and what I expected. I would call it medium firm. High priced mattresses shipped in a box may be a little better than this mattress, but not $600-800 better. I gave it 5 stars after about 2 months, now let's see how well it lasts. If it sags, you can bet I will be back to downgrade it.

This is the best purchase i have ever made. Love this mattress, i didnt realize just how good sleep can be & how bad my old mattress was til i bought this one. I am so pleased with this product. I will be purchasing another for my daughter.
