A whole new world of garden activity !
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. So after a year of feeding a hedgehog, we got this to see what been eating the food as we were sure it was just a local cat!On the first night, it was great to actually see a hedgehog in our garden. However on the next night Mr Fox gobbled up the food, this is a worry as we also have chickens in our garden, oh and a cat did visit also! Now we have this info we can consider the chicken security and plan for additional fox security.Anyway the camera:Good points(*) Battery operated so can go anywhere.(*) Strap mount (a different bracket also supplied for more fixed mount also).(*) Looks like it could go onto a tri-pod if needed (not supplied).(*) Allows for external DC power for fixed position (not sure how water proof that will be however as looks like a rubber flap to open).(*) Does exactly what's expected.Bad points(*) Lens has no rain shield, so when wet water droplets can blur image (as observed in my shots)(*) Programming buttons small and not in the typical circle pattern that's most items uses now-a-days.Based on the images recorded on just two nights I'm glad I have this, I just wish the lens was covered hence the 4*.It would ne nice to allow remote download also (Bluetooth / WiFi), ideally to save power you could push a button (external), to allow the connection to save on battery power, this function would save on opening the camera to get the SD card out.NB - Video's use a lot more memory, based on highest quality at night time.Photo - 4.5 MbVideo - 37 Mb (5 sec)Of course the video and photos can be set for lower quality (video different times also). The photo of the hedge hog was set at the one down from highest quality, and that was 2 Mb.UPDATE : 29/11/2019After viewing other nights images, and looking at other items for sale, I asked for the star rating to go up to 5. The photos are great, and originally marking it down for getting a wet lens seems harsh when all other cameras would suffer the same issue. I think its a missed design opportunity as a little peak over the lens would help in non windy rain conditions, but you will never stop a lens getting wet.

Resolution lower than advertised
Firstly, this is NOT a 16 megapixel camera. The instruction book says that anything above 8MP is interpolated (software is used to make the pictures take up more space on the card without adding any more detail to the image - the only benefit is to the seller who advertises the inflated figure). To be fair this is a fairly common marketing trick among cheaper cameras and the native resolution is high enough for my purposes, but resolution is a pretty basic thing to get right if you're selling a camera. Now that's out of the way...Day and night pictures are pretty good with a good depth of field. Easy to set up and use. The optional text added to the picture includes the temperature as well as time and date. When it's turned 'on' (as opposed to 'setup'), the screen shows the camera's view while counting down for 15 seconds, then it turns off and waits to detect movement.Trigger speed is OK, moving animals tend to appear around the middle of the field of view in the first image. The IR LEDs give good illumination, enough to cause white-out if a light-coloured subject is close to the camera. They also produce a small amount of red light so the camera will announce its presence to anyone going past in the dark, but nocturnal animals don't seem to mind.So far I've used it for about 70 hours, mostly on picture only, and the battery indicator has been switching between full and part-used.I bought another trail camera at the same time as this one, ostensibly by a different manufacturer (Campark), but they look identical apart from the shape and colour of the front. Software, box and accessories are the same and the only difference I noticed between the two manuals is that of them has a slightly higher native resolution. That's not necessarily a problem, but something to be aware of if you're trawling reviews. I wouldn't be surprised if most of the trail cams around this price point were made in the same factory, with most of the same components.

Great budget camera trap
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. For the price I am really impressed. The camera works as advertised, with clear video and or photos, good night vision, with simple instructions and easy to use settings. I really wasn't expecting it to be as good as it is.The main features that I use are changing the trigger sensitivity, video length and the time between triggers. You can also set it to time lapse if desired which I plan to do soon as well as many other features.I've used it in freezing conditions with the only issue being that the screen froze and misted over (not the cameras fault) I found mounting it closer to my house helps as there is some residual warmth. Perhaps a more expensive camera has a anti mist lens.In wet conditions the lens can get water droplets on it, again I'm not sure if more expensive cameras have a remedy for this.In conclusion I highly recommend this for home and amateur use.

Very Good
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. This camera is working very well for me, see my video. Motion sensitivity is good and images are sharp, although infra red light coverage is not great. I like that it requires only 4 x AA batteries.Having bought about a dozen wildlife cameras over the years I offer the following:* Don't pay too much - they NEVER last long. £50 is my maximum.* Picture quality is pot luck, some cameras will produce sharp and contrasty images, some will have you looking at grey and foggy images. You never know until you try them.
