Really great first drone, easy to learn how to use - great fun.
The media could not be loaded. The Simrex X-11 is my very first drone. I found the instructions a little difficult to understand, but after watching a few Youtube videos, it was much easier to get to grips with the controls and gimbal calibration. You soon gain confidence when flying it as the controls become second nature, the Return to Base button is really useful to bring the drone back and land where it started. The 1080p camera is ok and I’m sure in time I will get some great video and pictures around my neighbourhood. You have to keep an eye on the battery though as the 15 minute flight time soon passes – then it’s about 6 hours to recharge the battery – so I may see about getting a spare that I can carry with me.The drone has a nice weight to it and its nice to also get a spare set of propellers in the box along with some protectors. So far it has been great fun and nice to learn about drone flying, I’m sure over time I will have hours of fun with this lovely little machine - a really good, well build and easy to use Drone

Easy to fly
This is a good little drone, its easy to Fly, my son picked it up and was pretty much away with it on the remote control (he's not old enough for Mobile phone yet). The charging time is reasonable (about an hour), much faster than my others Son's drone (about 3 hrs), however the quid pro quo is that it doesn't fly for very long before needing a charge. I think the option of additional batteries within the price, or a slightly larger battery would make this perfect. When I say small it really is very small, but that's fine it flys well and zips about, is easily controllable and has the same standard camera as my other son's (stops squabbling). Its just a shame the flight time is so short in comparison. It was virtually the same price as my other Son's drone, but his is larger and flys longer. Otherwise its a nice easily portable little thing. UPDATE: The drone battery was defective (self discharging). I got a very quick and helpful response from the Simrex support team, the battery was replaced. Issues can occur and they dealt with it very well.

Outdated instructions, poor camera, oversensitive controls and easily damaged
This was my first semi-serious camera drone. The packaging is impressive and the drone itself looks very good quality. That's where the quality ends I'm afraid. The written instructions are minimal and incorrect. They are for the previous version of this drone and I had to consult YouTube to get the drone to even start. There is a large feature list on this drone but the implementation is limited and, at times, poor. An example of this is the return home feature which attempts to automatically land the drone with a button push. My experience of this feature actually caused me problems on two occasions where the drone landed and immediately took off again to 2 metres altitude while I was approaching the drone to pick it up. It hit my jacket sleeve on one occasion and this resulted in the drone crashing, snapping a prop guard which I had to glue back together. I found the gyroscopic stabilisation erratic and the drone would often drift when meant to be static. The remote feels substantial but the sensitivity of the joysticks is ridiculous and I found the drone pitching and yawing wildly with the tiniest of stick movements. This is a harder drone to fly than any of the sub-£30 toy drones I have used. Compared with the DJI Mavic Mini my friend has, this drone feels like a cheap toy, except, of course, it isn't cheap. To top things off, the camera is possibly the most disappointing aspect of this drone. It is listed as 1080p but video looks more like 480p zoomed. Colours are harsh, synthetic and over-exposed, movement results in heavy pixellation (and moving video is probably what most people will want this drone for), fish-eye effect is horrible on landscapes. Autoexposure is slow when moving from light to dark areas. The gimbal works reasonably well as a stabiliser but using it to alter camera pitch is awful and takes several button presses on the remote to get small changes right.I seriously considered returning this drone but, as it is already damaged (one rotor guard and two props after 12 mins of flying) I think I will just have to accept it as a very expensive learning experience. So be aware that while the feature list looks like a premium drone, the experience is far from that. Save up that extra cash and get a DJI.

Poor Instruction manual
We bought the drone for our son as was described as perfect for beginners. Product arrived on time and nicely packaged. Drone looks well constructed and with the good quality for the price. Initial setup was easy and the drone flew correctly for the first few minutes, afterward started to fly only backward. We tried to change the propellers as suggested, but results did not change. We found very little information on this problem both in the manual and online. As a result, we had to return the drone as we were unable to understand the issue and therefore a potential solutions.

Excellent, easy to fly, GREAT price!...AND good support!
The media could not be loaded. My initial experience with the Simrex X11 was great...except for the instruction manual...but flying was pretty easy and the drone has many great features.THEN, on flight number 12 or so, with freshly charged batteries, I encountered a loss of control issue that was totally uncharacteristic of my previous flights. I contacted Simrex support and they determined that my drone had a problem and quickly provided a solution to fix this problem.I was very pleasantly surprised at how responsive their support has been both times I have contacted them. This first time was just to get a technical question answered and the second time for the issue noted above. In both cases I received a great result. The Simrex X11 Drone offers a FANTASTIC set of features at this price point. I am still a drone novice; I have an older drone without GPS and now this Simrex X11 with GPS.Unboxing: The drone came well boxed in a re-usable carton with a handle and foam inserts. The only downside I see is that you must remove the propellers and guards to store the drone in the original carton. However, everything fits compactly for storage and protection.Assembly: Initial assembly includes installing batteries in the remote, charging the drone battery (simple micro-USB charging,) attaching the propellers and guards (highly recommended to protect the propellers from mishaps. TIP for Newbies like me: look for the arrows on top of the propellers to see which way to turn them when threading onto the motors. Two rotate clockwise and two rotate counterclockwise. As mentioned by another customer, the included screwdriver (used to install the propeller guards) is cheap and may strip the screws. Use a higher quality screwdriver for best results. Overall, the parts fit precisely and seem to be of good quality.Setup: The instructions cover all essential information, but they are not well organized and contain some translation issues. However, I found them adequate to figure things out. I HIGHLY recommend watching some YouTube videos for Simrex X11 first flights. They can be extremely helpful, especially for novice drone pilots.Calibration: One of the most confusing processes may be calibration. However, this is an essential process for proper flight. Once again…check YouTube to see how it is done. The basic process is to start the calibration mode by pressing the appropriate button on the remote and then rotate the drone first horizontally (right side up) and then vertically (drone front facing up). Here is the sequence:1. Power on the drone2. Power on the remote3. Pair the remote to the drone – Move left remote stick up and then down (hear immediate chirp)4. Enter calibration mode – press “gear” button – top of remote on the left)5. Hold the drone horizontally or just sit it on a table and spin it around (not too fast nor too slow) clockwise 2-3 full rotations until the drone signals for the next step with a chirp6. Carefully hold the drone in your hands with the camera facing away from you and tip the drone up 90 degrees so that the battery is pointing down at the ground.7. With the drone in this upward facing position rotate it again 2-3 times until it signals completion. If you follow the process in the manual and pay attention to the lights and orientation of the drone, the calibration process only takes about a minute. Again…check YouTube to see how it is done if you run into any confusion.Smartphone App: The smartphone app adds a whole other level to the drone’s capabilities. Most smartphones will easily fit into the built-in bracket on the top of the remote. While you can use a smartphone by itself to control the drone without the remote, I find using both together to be most functional. The smartphone app lets you see a live view of the camera and provides total functional control of the drone. Photo and video taken by the drone can be recorded on the phone in real time or optionally stored to a micro-SD card installed into directly into the drone’s camera. The smartphone app also lets you use advanced functions such as a pre-planned flight based on GPS waypoints for a fully automated flight. This would be great for doing a video survey of a specific area.Camera: Another amazing feature on the Simrex X11 is the gimbal mounted camera. The gimbal keeps the camera very steady and level during flight. This allows for terrific looking video. The camera angle can be controlled remotely to frame up anything from straight below to up beyond the horizon. Photo and video quality are excellent for a drone in this class; better than I expected.Overall, I am incredibly happy with the Simrex X11 drone and recommend it as a very full featured drone in its price range.
