RPG Maker

Takes a bit to know how to use it, but after that it is pretty cool. You set up and create your own game, and then you play it. It takes a long time to make a game, and a lot of space on a memory card.Four stars because it's a little too addictive.

At last! Like many of you video game frantics out there you have been praying, begging and hoping that someday, out of the blue someone will bring to you a thing that will allow you to make your own games. Well fellow believers the time has come. RPG maker is here! There is much rejoicing and much pain and suffering.Let me say this right off the bat. You will need a lot of time to make a game with RPG maker. That means you will nead about 1-2 months if you hope to create a game. But that does not involve the time neaded to understand how to use this thing. From the minute you boot it up. You will scratch your head raw in a effort to understand how to use RPG Maker. I spent who knows how many hours trying to figure out how to make levels, make spells,items etc. At one point I was so deppressed I gave up and did another game.But wait...1 month after I got RPG Maker I Botted it up again and gave it another go. And low and behold, somehow everything fit togeather! At long last I finially understood everything, "so that s how the event thingy works, so thats how the monster edit goes!" were thoughts that flashed through my mind. I set to work making my very first game, Quest for Atlantis. 1 1/2 months later I finially finished it. It took aproximatly 2 hours per day, for 1 1/2 months to make a 1 hour game. But it has been worth it. It is impossible, to say in words, the thrill you get when you finially play your finished game for the first time. A game that YOU made. Music, levels, charachters were all made by YOU. I have also a tidbit of advice for you. DONT LOSE THE 2 MANUALS!! they will prove invaluble in the future. But they cant be good all the time. For instance I was trying to find a ship, one that I had made in the items section and I couldent find it. The manual only said when the logo for it was displayed. I finially found it by going to sample dungeon and going under "Other" but I am still trying to find the blimp. Where are you you stupid Blimp? Also forget about using the animie maker. Its impossible to use. RPG Maker is incredibly frustrating at first, But goes above and beyond the call of duty to reward those who stick with it.The good: you can make your own games! need I say more? Infinate replay valuethe bad: hard to use. Manuals can be superficialAnd the ugly: Incredibly hard to get the hang of.

It worked as I expected to but when using editor on PS3 unable to transfer new characters that were created by editor. Haven't tried it on PS1. I assume it works correctly.

Good the series has decently gotten better shenc this one

This is the best rpg maker of them all. It may take a while to make a game on here (about a week) but so will any other game maker, and this one was well worth it. As long as you have some patience you can create a great game from this. I've made one complete game on this and although it does get kind of grueling when making towns people or other story parts, creating the items and characters is very fun. It's easy to use character maker allows you to design your characters and is no more confusing than using paint on your computer. And if you don't feel like doing that it comes with like 90 already made, including some animals and other things.

I got this game hoping, with my writing skills, I could create a masterpiece of an RPG game. But I was wrong. At first I had fun with storyline, making dungeons, characters, and naming and making enemies, items, and all that. I titled it, chose the opening theme, and stuff. I test played it and found out how hard it was to make this game. A great game like Final Fantasy series, Xenogears, Chrono Cross or Breath of Fire series must take ages to make because this is the most time-consuming game I have ever played.The graphics are very NESish, and old, but I liked them at the beginning. Then I got very annoyed with them and how old they looked. It was like I was playing a classic Zelda game, or the great PS1 game Tales of Destiny. I quickly grew bored with this game. Check out some other reviews, one guy from Chicago tells all that I cannot type for my hands are very tired. I had fun at first but it all gradually fell down on me and I gave it up. The Anime Maker is very difficult to use and Scenario mode is even harder. A very very difficult game; you'll need a strategy guide for this but of course they don't make one. They include 2 instruction booklets in the CD case that are even difficult to understand. The magic system is horrible and it is all too confusing and hard. Do not buy this game thinking you'll make a masterpiece. I don't even know how some people do so.

Great buy, my husband loves this game. if you are into RPG you will LOVE I mean LOVE this game.

To be able to make a RPG sounds real good, but it can be a long hard process. To finally get your own RPG made and actually play it is very rewarding. This game lets you appreciate the great RPGs that are out there. You will never be able to make a RPG like that, but you can use your creative talent to produce a game of your own. Just don't buy a used game without the instruction manuals. I had a hard time to get very far with the instructions and I would have been totally lost without them. Not having the manuals is like being blind, you won't know where to start. Or maybe I'm just a hopeless ignoramus?
