100 Things to Make You Happy effectively cheers up elementary aged kids
This book helps elementary-aged kids cheer themselves up. My son went through a grumpy time in 2nd grade. Out of ideas we stumbled upon this book. The list (100 things) is brief but effective. When feeling upset he'll look at the book and point out something that makes him feel better. The illustrations are very age appropriate. Highly recommend

What Makes YOU Happy?
My daughter (12) and I reviewed this book for Mother Daughter Book Reviews.DAUGHTER SAYS:This book is full of countless ways to be happy. If you’re ever feeling sad, this book will give you tips and tricks to stay happy. There are so many ways to be happy and this book basically says it all, so be happy!! :)The cover is very eye-catching because who doesn’t want to read a book that has a cover that looks so…well…happy? The images inside of the book are pretty and state the point they want to make easily. Some of them also are just really cute.My favorite parts of the books are all the animal parts because animals are amazing and super cute and that definitely makes me happy. I learned that making your bed actually makes you happy. It actually works which I find strange because usually when your parent says “clean your room” or “make your bed” you would not want to at all, but it made me feel organized and made my room look neater and that made me happy!I thought this book was really good and helpful. Next time I get sad, I definitely need to read this book. I think everyone would like this book. Especially someone who is sad and needs to be cheered up.MOM SAYS:My Bottom Line: All in all, 100 Things to Make You Happy is a treasure for the whole family. Filled with beautiful photographs and nuggets of wisdom for children (and adults) to inspire them to achieve happiness, I highly recommend this lovely empowering book to families; and, challenge them to crack open the book together to a random page and begin their journey toward a life filled with light, hope, and contentment. Ages 5+. * This book was provided to me by the publisher free-of-charge in exchange for our honest reviews. All opinions expressed are our own. *

Reading this book made me happy! Perfect for ages 8-12 at home or in the classroom.
SUMMARY: This book begins with this awesome quote: "The secret to happiness is to start by doing things that make you happy." It then proceeds to give 100 ideas of things you can do to make yourself happy like find a hobby, volunteer, give a hug, etc. It also has some adorable smile-worthy pictures along the way to boost your happiness as you read the book. The writing and pictures are geared towards the middle grade (ages 8-12) crowd.REVIEW: I always love books that encourage happiness and this book was no exception. It is rich with so many ideas that it can be read over and over and over again. With each reading, the reader can pull something new from it. The book has great variety. It is not just a list of things, but has cute pictures and stories of people who have done things to make themselves happy. It also gives step by step instructions for some of the choices. Of course my favorite happy activity was #29 "Eat Chocolate!" I highly recommend this book for your home as well as for classroom use. There are so many ways this book could be used to teach lessons, I couldn't even begin to count them.AGE RECOMMENDATION: This book is advertised for grades 3-7 or ages 8-12 which is perfect. Ages 6 and 7 could also benefit from reading this book if they are on a very high reading level.

Great little book.
I bought this for my 8 year old son, and it's been a huge hit. Really lovely dip-in-and-out-of type book. We'll certainly buy the others in the range too.
