Quality & Affordability
The DC1200= A great addition for a small shop. I piped 6''sch40 straight off this DC1200 with 3-90degree elbows and 4'' pvc drops to each machine. I also installed auto start blast gates with a low voltage contactor. This unit maintains mega suction even at the last machine, the vortex and filter paddles work great. It's loud but not screaming like a shopvac. In the end I think I could have gotten by with the 1 1/2hp but I'm happy. This unit suck's in a good way. 5 stars to Jet for a good affordable 2 micron unit.

Great collector, lousy packaging.
Works great. High CFM, lots of suction. Really picks up dust and chips. Easy to set up for one person.Jet needs to work on packaging. Unit came with dented motor and fan housing. Nothing that interferes with function, but there was shipping damage. Motor and fan assembly is just too much weight for a light cardboard box with some Styrofoam packing.Would have given 5 stars except for damage.

Outstanding!
I had a very good 2hp Bridgewood dust collector with a 1 micron bag that worked great on everything except for my 36" dual drum sander. That machine makes lots of very fine, talcum like powder that would clog up the bag in no time and render it almost useless. I was concerned that nothing short of a two stage dust collector would solve the problem, but they sell for $1500 and up. I read enough about this Vortex Cone system to take a chance on it being able to do the job. It worked even better than I expected. The sawdust powder is completely captured and the Vortex Cone is trapping most of the powdered sawdust in the lower bag before it circulates into the filter. I spin the filter cleaning flapper after I shut the machine off and very little dust drops down into the clear plastic bag. This is far and away the most challenging dust collection job in the shop and it handled it with ease. The machine was fairly easy to assemble and seems to be very well made. I could have spent a lot more money and not gotten a more satisfactory product.

My professional cabinet shop had been limping along with an older unit and I decided it was time to upgrade. Wow! Wondering if there will be enough suction to go around? I'm amazed at how powerful this unit is. I did a lot of research before buying, opting for the 2hp and would recommend it, if your interested in actually collecting dust. I wouldn't do without a separator (I use one on this unit and on my large shop Vac) to lengthen the time between emptying and maintain maximum suction.As far as the manufacture, very nice, no rough edges and everything well packed.I'm a prime member and liked the way Amazon shipped this product. It took a little over a week but it was worth it. It arrived in perfect condition with only minor scuffs on the box.Update: 5 years.. June 3 2019. Worked great until today when the motor burned out. Lots of smoke but fortunately no flames.

If you are looking for a good dust collector
If you are looking for a good dust collector, the Jet DC-1200VX model may be right for you. The unit has impressive vacuum suction and provides two inputs, which helps when setting up in your shop. The bag is basic and can be a bit of a pain to remove and empty if you let the bag get too full, but if you make it a habit of emptying the bag when it is about half full, it make it much easier. The unit I bought is the 220V model and I have been please with the cost of running it. Assembly was not too bad as it came with decent instructions.Overall, a great addition to my shop.

Does the job!!
I upgraded from a shop vac. I has great suction. It is loud, but I knew it would be. Could have spent double to get a slightly quieter machine but I am happy with this and the price. One tip for any one on a budget, research the fittings, blast gates and hose prior to buying. Those items can cost several hundred dollars.

Bag changing
The machine works great, but bag changing is terrible. It needs an outside clamp system, instead of that crappy inside banding.
