Nice piece of kit
The product arrived a day earlier which is always nice. Couldn't wait to try it. It chopped wood like butter. The battery is fantastic. It is really heavy with the extension pole but you don't need it very often. Very pleased and impressed with the pole saw. The trigger as seen on other reviews is annoying but not the end of the world. It also been said that the oil for the chain is leaking out on the pole so you need to store it flat to avoid leakage. Otherwise I strongly recommend it.

Easy to use and lightweight
Really easy to get started with this. Just get some chainsaw oil, top up the tank and away you go. It had no problem dealing with some overgrown conifer trees and the extension poles allows you to stand well back. It’s pretty durable as expected from dewalt.

Fantastic mini chainsaw
Great reach and cutting ability. It will slice through6 inches with ease.I would advise to use the strap to help take the weight as you cant put the thing down once you start.

Excellent
I bought one of these along with the long reach DeWalt trimmer. Buying the two has the advantage that the extension pole supplied with the chainsaw also happens to fit the trimmer! The reach on the chainsaw is amazing. I was easily reaching branches that were about twenty feet off the ground. The saw is amazingly sharp, only taking about thirty seconds or less to cut through a four inch branch. It is extremely important to be careful to cut the branch on the opposite side that it will fall on, to avoid trapping the blade which will leave you in trouble if you do. You absolutely must have a long hook to help out if that happens. An oversight that I regretted ( I threw out my old manual pole shears thinking I would not need them ). Its also a good idea to hang on to that old pole to hook and pull down branches that don't fall. Because I threw mine out I now have to go buy a new one.The one failing of the saw is that it is relatively easy to overload it and if you do it just stops. In some cases it stops with the blade jammed in the branch. It's not dangerous because it's not difficult to jiggle it around a bit and get it going again, but it is a pain. Overall the unit seem very underpowered but if you go gently it will happily chomp it's way through four inch branches. I sort of get the idea that it does this because the blade is sharp rather than it has tons of power.I would recommend the 5Ah battery. I managed to take the top off an entire tree only using one division of the battery, and that was swapping the battery to the hedge trimmer as well. You can use smaller batteries but I tried that and the rotates the chain slower and has less power. That was with a new fully charged 2ah battery too.The strap is useless, throw it away, lol. Honestly, it restricts movement so much it's just dangerous. The DeWalt chainsaw oil is very expensive so I just used Makita. Works just fine. It does use a fair bit of oil, it keeps the blade saturated, so cost is a consideration. It seems to leak and spray oil all over the place so having a rag handy is useful.Anyway, it's a great tool. Buy one!
