Why the Danish are so happy...
I chose this book to gain insight on why Danish citizens are continuously rated the happiest of all countries. Barbara uncovers the lifestyle that is supported by their government with significant benefits in health insurance, shorter workdays, long maternity leave and vacations, unemployment coverage, education, and so on. It appears there’s very little to worry about. That said, their taxes are quite high. You’ll learn the details here. It’s not just the security they enjoy, it’s also a mindset of simplicity and comfort with an active social and family life. The pace is much slower and life is savored. You’ll learn about home decor, wardrobe, cooking, crafts, relationships, etc. They don’t have such an attachment to consumer goods either. You will learn how to adopt as much of the lifestyle as you desire into your own life by following Barbara’s pointers.

A nice read.
It was a nice, quick read. At times it was a bit repetitive. Makes me want to move to Denmark.

I'm so happy about this book!
I bought 5! One for myself, and four for friends and family. I started reading my copy already and am so thrilled with not only the content of the book, but how easy it is to read and understand. Even if you don't have the ability to go out and decorate your home, there are ways to implement hygge in your life without buying anything at all, this book seems to be a great starting point in your understanding, and implementation. I'm glad I bought 5!

Lovely and Practical
I had read The Little Book of Hygge (which is also great) but this book translates hygge for an American audience. Lots of practical ideas for how to make your home and life more hyggeligt. The only thing I’d say is that this definitely seemed at a 30+ year old woman who owns her own house with a family. As a twenty-something millennial in a rented apartment, there were some parts I couldn’t relate to. But you can’t write for everybody, and I’d still recommend giving this a read even if you’re not the intended demographic.

Loved this book!
I have been wanting to learn to slow down and not always feel like I am rushing through life and this is the perfect book for me! I gained so many ideas on making my life and home warm, cozy, and inviting. If you are looking for tips on living a Hygee life, this is the book for you!

Only if you're in Denmark
The book is better suited for somebody who is already entrenched in Danish culture, including a welfare state way of life. Not very practical for someone in a different country and culture. And doesn't really talk about how to create hygge within that other culture.

Practical book
Useful guide about this lifestyle. A few pictures would have been good, without them is like something is missing but it's a nice read anyway.

Short read & practical tips
I have always had an interest in learning more about different cultures, and Scandinavia intrigues me. :) While I don’t agree with all the ideology of hygge, I’ve always enjoyed cozy atmospheres and learning more about cultural practices, and points about living life filled with gratitude and cultivating togetherness are certainly biblical. Overall, this book was an interesting insight into Scandinavian culture and offered practical tips for adding a layer of cozy to your life.

Poorly written, poorly produced.
Bought this for my wife and quite frankly she was disappointed. Firstly it's written by an American, so references life in the US which isn't relevant, and makes it feel like the book isn't the genuine article. Also the book is littered with spelling mistakes which contribute to making you feel like the book is a cheap rip off that they have churned out to make some money, with no thought given to proof reading or editing. Have ordered another one from Amazon (written by someone from Scandinavia) which I hope is better then this effort. Poor book.
