Graphic and difficult, yet well worth your time
Okay, so first off I'll say that I had a really difficult time getting through the first half of the book. I don't know what the author was doing with the POV, but apparently, no rules applied. Then, there were sections that had some of the most beautiful writing with these short, choppy sentences with "is" being the only action verb. It felt like I was reading from two different books at times. With all of that said, the second half of the book is exciting and amazing. I understand what some other reviewers said about the characters not being likable. They do terrible things, even for an apocalyptic setting, but the story makes you ignore all of that. It made me laugh and cry and come close to vomiting at times. And yes, I would still recommend this book.

Great Tale
A very captivating read, for me at least. It was a difficult story to put down but it had to be put down to allow for time to absorb the thought provoking situations and characters. Many discussions of "what would you do" or, "how would you feel" were had on the back porch of an evening with my wife. The folks in this story were put through the ringer. Brutality is the norm, everything is hard times, how long would you last in this storys world? I really enjoyed this book, I've recommended it to friends. The first few pages will pull you right in. A cool take on post apocalyptic America 15+ years after the event.

morality or survival
A question none of has had to ask in this world and I hope we never have to. Is there a way to do both? Is it wrong to bring destruction upon ppl who commit that upon others?

Powerful, Deep, Scary, Thought Provoking Stuff
There are very few books I read that I finish and want to immediately go back to page one and start again. This is one of those rarities. I've read many apocalyptic stores but this goes far beyond the standard book in the genre. This will be different things to different people and that is possibility its most mesmerizing aspect. In the distant past an author like this would have never stood a chance in getting his words published. Amazon has single-handedly opened a door to thousands of want-to-be authors. Most are probably not worth your time but people like this, hidden gems, are now able to flex a muscle that would have atrophied without ever knowing it's potential strength. Keep up the great work D.J.

A brutal book, beautifully written.
Impressive book. Very creative world with a variety of well-crafted characters. It's a story of A desperate man on a personal journey of destruction and vengeance. It's a brutal book, beautifully written. The ending fell flat but overall the book was a good blend of post-apocalyptic and outlaw western genre.

Despite minor misgivings another solid work by D.J. Molles.
I am a dedicated D.J. Molles fan. I read a lot of post-apocalyptic fiction and for my money "The Remaining" is excellent. Having said that, "Wolves" left me a little disappointed. It's long and at times repetative. It seems like some of the scenes repeat themselves. And, there is too much internal discussion by the main character. He struggles with the emotional consequencs of his actions, but it gets tiring about half way through. However, there is a lot to admire. This book is exceptionally well edited which is a real peeve with me. The dialogue is well written too. The action scenes are viseral; you feel you are watching them in person and up close. This story is exceptionally violent. At its core "Wolves" is a tale of revenge, and on that piont it delivers in spades. Much of Molles's work is dark and exestential. I have to wonder where it comes from. Regardless, the man can write. A few minor flaws aside, if you like post-apocalyptic fiction of the Carmac McCarthy type then you will like this book.

Best novel Molles has written. Thank you for helping me to remember someone and who I once was. Well done.

Enjoyable story with a predictable ending and no real arc
Post-apocalypse America, daughter kidnapped, hunt the hunters retribution story. Pretty alright, about twice as long as necessary with some cool bits of action/violence but otherwise fairly poorly developed supporting characters.
